The Village School

Fueled by frustration and a sense of urgency, I began researching school models that honored a child’s unique talents, passions and curiosity; that didn’t judge but empowered and strengthened, honing thinking and building character. My search led me to a network of smaller innovative and cutting edge schools – often called “micro schools”- and became inspired to create our own: The Village School.

We designed our school to empower learners to work independently on core skills (reading, writing, math) and give them rich opportunities to work collaboratively on real-world projects. We’ve made sure to allow children the autonomy they need to thrive (so kids can go to the bathroom when they need to, stretch their legs when needed, grab a snack, etc.) Most importantly, we’ve created an environment where children get to be leaders- of themselves and their communities.

We believe we have found that better way.
