Who do we love?
I don’t mean, who do we like to be around, or who we enjoy?
But who do we treat with true charity, the fullness of our heart—the love God has for them?
Usually, being selfish, we do the second for the first; we give love to those we enjoy.
That’s not our job. Our job is to love where it hurts; to pray and (or) to genuinely wish good things for those who don’t wish that for us.
Not to put our lives in the hands of those who would harm us; Jesus directed his disciples to shake dust from their feet when necessary. But who do you think those disciples were called to pray for the hardest?
Who am I called to care for today?
God give us the grace. 🙏

May crowning of our heavenly Mother 🌷
Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia.
For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia.
Has risen, as he said, alleluia!
I didn’t manage to get a picture of Mary herself! But this year I know she was directing me to her children, to the love they carry so purely to her, to hand to her Son, our brother.
Mary, teach our hearts to love your little ones, to care for the little hearts within us, and all around us, to bear them like flowers to Christ. 🌼

This picture was taken several days ago.
She’d just learned some cool new slang.
But she was serious.
“Touch grass, Mom.”
“Touch grass!”
So I did. 😁🙌🌿

“There is no darkness but ignorance!”
How many rooms full of 8-15 year olds would have laughed at loud at that, coming out of the mouth of their friend who is playing the most confused, ignorant character in the play?
Unpopular opinion: ALL of them, if they’ve ever been given the chance to read, love, and *live* literature like this! Holding it back from them, above their heads, is the saddest way to tell an entire generation that they’re just not smart enough for it. Who are we to dumb them down?
Is it the darkness of our own ignorance that gives us pause? Because our kids deserve the light! ⚡️
We’re just gonna keep doing it until it catches on… kids can do ! And they’re ridiculously fun. 🤩🤣

“Let the mother go out to play!” Or work, in this case.
Just found a little mimetic teaching, modeling for my kids the insatiable need to spend every moment of beautiful weather outdoors. 🌞

The world is charged… 🔥 In Marilynn Robinson’s *Gilead,* the narrator, musing over three generations of life while facing his coming death, continually remarks, “I am about to put on imperishability,” while gently mourning the coming loss of this beautiful, perishable world.
Coming home from a lovely discussion of the book, I turned West to find the sky already at work putting on perishability, and bridging the earth to eternity in the process.
“The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like a shining from shook foil…” Lord, gather us to your goodness this Lent. Let us live this perishable life, love this perishable earth, just as much and as truly as you made it for us to love.
