On Wednesday, Veterans and transitioning service members came together with employers, career coaches and veteran-serving organizations for the Career Forward: Veteran Transition Summit.

Hosted in partnership with the Virginia Department of Veterans Services and Virginia Works the summit connected veterans with resources, career opportunities and professionals ready to support their next steps.

Throughout the day, participants explored career pathways, built connections with employers and gained practical tools to navigate the transition from military service to civilian careers.

Today, we recognize National Constitution Day by reflecting on the history, ideas and perspectives that have shaped our nation.

We’re proud to spotlight Associate Professor of History Dr. Good, whose work brings American history to life and highlights the women whose contributions helped shape it. Dr. Good is the author of two books on American history and women in history and was recently featured as a subject matter expert in the Netflix documentary The American Experiment.

We’re grateful to have Dr. Good as part of the Marymount community and for her dedication to engaging our students in thoughtful conversations about history, citizenship and civic life.

Showing up for our community.

On 9/11, our community came together to honor those we lost by giving back to our neighbors here in Arlington.

Marymount students, faculty and staff packed and delivered meals to PathForward as part of 9/11 Day, turning a day of remembrance into a day of action.

Yesterday, we gathered for the Mass of the Holy Spirit, a Marymount tradition that marks the beginning of a new academic year and offers a moment to reflect, pray and ask for guidance for the year ahead.

We were honored to welcome Bishop Michael Burbidge, who celebrated Mass with the Marymount community as we kicked off the semester.

Today, Marymount joins communities across the nation in remembering September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we pause to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, remember those whose lives were forever changed and reflect on the courage and compassion shown in the days that followed.

This morning, the tolling of the bell on campus marked the moments when each of the four planes struck. With each ring, our community paused for a moment of silence and remembrance.

Later today, our community will gather for an Interfaith Prayer Service and Roll Call to honor those we lost and reflect on the strength found in unity, faith and hope.

From Colorado to Washington, D.C., 2,000 miles later, Collin Chartier ’17 made it home! After 79 days on the road, the Marymount alumnus crossed the finish line of his “Running Home” journey alongside nine Marymount cross-country athletes and their coach, ending at the Lincoln Memorial.

But this journey was about more than the miles. It focused on mental health, addiction recovery and finding purpose beyond achievement, Collin used his run to raise awareness and support for the Herren Project.
