We are pleased to show the work of our original gallery artists. The collection shows the creativity and the variety of work by this group of local artists, that originally exhibited their paintings when the gallery opened in 1967. Sandy Rabbitt is known for the freshness of her watercolor paintings. She brings still life paintings to life and her landscapes capture the warmth and depth as if you were there. She exhibited and taught at the Upstairs Gallery, from our opening in 1967.

CLASSES UPDATE: Sam Hopkins is offering Wednesday afternoon watercolor classes during July while Margie Whittington takes a summer break during July and August. Sam's class is scheduled for July 7, 14, 21, 28 at 1:00pm. Her Tuesday class will continue as scheduled during July and August - also at 1pm. Call the gallery to check availability.

THE UPSTAIRS GALLERY is currently featuring the work of Treslyn Shipley. She named her show, CROWDED SPACES, and when you see her paintings, you will understand why. Teeming, pre-pandemic crowds moving through skillfully rendered environments overflow the edges of her larger canvases. Detailed, realistic, and humane, Shipley says these paintings “invite you to find your place in the crowd.”

In addition we are still featuring our LESS is MORE show, with works created by our gallery artists. This summer is the perfect time to enjoy the “coolness” of the gallery and the enchanting Rosie the Riveter Memorial Garden.

GALLERY MEMORIES: Artist extraordinaire, Sam Hopkins and technical genius, Daryl Barnard (on the right) begin streaming Sam's watercolor classes! Daryl is a great friend of the gallery and Mac Martin. Sam's Facebook streaming started one year ago - when we reopened gallery classes. Thank you Sam - thank you Daryl!

Coming Soon!! Sam Hopkins Tuesday Watercolor class will be available online. Classes in the Gallery Studio are open with limited seating. Yesterday Sam and Technical Guru, Daryl Barnard, tested the new online system.
