A fast paced light-sparring round with Gabe. Taller people who move well often present the largest challenges for me, so it's great to practice with someone I know is going to be hard to hit!

This is mostly a place for me to share some of what I've learned about JKD with others, and to have fun with the memories :)
Sparring video from a few months ago. Saleem almost gave me a second fresh haircut early on! It was like .04 seconds away from contact 😟. Great job using your range!
Light sparring with one of my friends/students with a Krav background. Lot's of areas to work on in terms of movement and control for him, but he does great taking over the centerline against me as the smaller fighter.
Some goofy mistakes made on my end too, but fun is fun.
Re-post of previous video homework for myself and Alex Ripianzi. Last video had poor resolution. Sifu Sean Glynn
Senior students pressure testing. I'm putting this up as a reference point for later. This is a drill to help us see areas we need to work on. It's full contact at some points, but this is not a full out fight.
1st clip: Christos.
Great head movement as usual, even after I tricked him a little at the beginning. There's a reason his manbun still lives after all this time! It would have been a bit better with more counter punches, but he did good keeping me at range with kicks at one point so there was less of a need for them.
2nd clip: Alex.
He used strong kicks to keep me at a distance, but a few of them were off-center so I was able to get past them. Awesome sidekick at one point!
He's comfortable in the trapping/grappling ranges so he didn't make it a priority to escape the corners as much, but it would be better to have that kind of mobility while hitting as a more comfortable option as time goes on. Adding one or two more punches to his combos would be good as well.
3rd clip: Me.
The man wearing the suit didn't put as much pressure on me as I was putting on the other students. It was his first time wearing the thing, and it takes some time to get used to. So I didn't get as much of a chance to react under pressure as I'd like. But he still provided a great opportunity for me to practice getting past someone's guard.
I saw my hands drop when kicking more than what I would like, and there were a few moments where I made myself vulnerable to a take-down when I didn't have to. Other than that, I was surprised to see just how much trapping I ended up using. It does seem to work well against people who turtle up though so I might as well.
Pressure testing day (Gabe vs me in the suit).
Gabe is one of our newer student's so this was just me moving in on him and not hitting etc. This was to give him a chance at hitting a moving target.
