Short Elementary, serving grades Pre-K through 6. Mrs. Beatrice Short is Short Elementary's namesake. Short taught for 49 years overall. Mr.
She taught at Johnson Station Elementary for the majority of her career. Johnson Station School was an active school for seventy-six years in the community. A new elementary school was much needed. As the doors closed at Johnson Station School, the doors opened at Short Elementary in the fall of 1970. Larson, the last principal at Johnson Station, became the first principal of Short Elementary. All after-school activities in Arlington ISD have been canceled for today, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, due to anticipated severe weather. All campuses will dismiss at their normal time today. Elementary onsite after school care will continue as scheduled.

🚨 After evaluating road and campus conditions and closely monitoring the forecast, Arlington ISD schools and offices will open today, Friday, January 30, 2026, at their regularly scheduled times.
Our facilities team has been working to clear ice and snow. We are aware there could still be some slick spots, so please be extra cautious coming in. We ask that drivers and walkers use extra caution during morning travel. Please allow extra time and remain alert.

Thanks to warmer temperatures and sunshine today that helped improve roadway conditions, Arlington ISD schools and offices will open tomorrow, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the regularly scheduled times.
