We have been a little quiet online lately, but only because we have been busy in class during the first two weeks of our Deportes (Sports) theme!

We have been learning the Spanish vocabulary associated with fútbol and baloncesto, including words for the equipment and actions used in each sport - all while playing, moving, practicing and having fun!

Our fall semester is off to a great start!

Bilingual Beginning is excited to continue offering Spanish at Roulhac's Preschool & Childcare preschool this fall!

We have loved partnering with Rouhac for years and watching so many kids learn Spanish through songs, movement, stories, games, and hands-on activities.

At this age, children’s brains are especially receptive to language. Learning Spanish gives them the opportunity to develop their listening skills, recognize and distinguish new sounds, build vocabulary, strengthen memory, and begin understanding how language works across two languages.

We still have openings available! If your child attends Rouhac and you would like to register, send me a DM and I will send you the registration form.

Our 12-week after-school Spanish program for K–5th grade students begins September 9 and meets Wednesdays at 3:45 PM.

Sometimes the right connections come together in ways you never could have planned.

Last year, I had the opportunity to volunteer at West End Community Center (WECC), a community program supported by Partners in Education Roatán (PIER), in Honduras

I continued following the work happening there when I returned home. Then I saw a post announcing their new director and realized it was someone I had known in high school , but hadn’t talked to in years. That unexpected reconnection, sparked by the post, opened the door to learning more about the community, the work happening there, and how I could continue to support.

When the opportunity came to visit again this year, everything fell into place within a weekend and the help of friends and Bilingual Beginning families, I was able to bring a suitcase full of donated supplies.

During my time there, I spent time with the kids, shared activities, played, listened, and learned more about the community and how Bilingual Beginning can continue to support in meaningful ways.

I am so grateful to everyone who donated, encouraged me, and helped make this experience possible. You helped me bring more than supplies - you helped me bring connection, friendship, and a reminder that small acts can create lasting impact.

I am excited to continue nurturing these relationships, learning from the community, and seeing where these connections lead in the future.
