Did You Know?

Small choices can make a big environmental difference.

Environmental issues don’t always start on a global scale—they often begin with everyday habits. The good news? Small actions, paired with the right knowledge, can create a real impact.

For example, one tree can absorb about 21 kilograms of carbon dioxide each year, helping clean the air and fight climate change. At the same time, forests around the world are disappearing at a rate of nearly 10 million hectares every year, reducing one of nature’s strongest defenses.

Plastic pollution is another reminder of how long our choices can last. A single plastic bottle can take up to 400 years to decompose, continuing to affect ecosystems and wildlife long after it’s thrown away.

These facts highlight why awareness matters, but awareness alone isn’t enough. Understanding environmental risks, regulations, and best practices helps turn concern into action.

That’s where the Environmental Training Institute comes in. ETI offers practical, compliance-focused training designed to help professionals recognize environmental risks, reduce impacts, and support safer, more sustainable workplaces and communities.

Change starts with informed decisions.
Learn more, get trained, and take the next step toward protecting the environment—starting with you.

A recent report revealed that just 32 fossil fuel companies are responsible for nearly half of global carbon dioxide emissions, underscoring how concentrated environmental impact can be within a single sector. The findings highlight the critical role of emissions tracking, regulatory oversight, and corporate accountability in addressing climate-related risks.

For environmental, health, and safety professionals, understanding where emissions come from—and how they are regulated—is essential. As environmental regulations continue to evolve, organizations must be prepared to identify applicable requirements, manage compliance responsibilities, and reduce risk before issues escalate.

At ETI, training focuses on turning environmental data and regulations into practical action. ETI courses equip professionals with the knowledge needed to navigate compliance, understand enforcement tools, and support more responsible environmental decision-making across industries.

Staying informed is the first step. Training turns awareness into action.

Become a Specialist in Environmental Regulations (SER).

Environmental compliance is complex, and organizations need professionals who understand how regulations apply across air, water, and waste systems. The SER certification from the Environmental Training Institute is designed to build that foundation.

The SER certification introduces three core areas of the environmental industry: Air, Water, and Waste. Through a structured curriculum, participants gain practical knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and enforcement tools that are essential for today’s environmental, health, and safety professionals.

To earn the SER certification, participants complete four required foundational courses, each focused on a critical regulatory area:

ETI 101 – Introduction to Environmental Compliance
Build a strong understanding of environmental regulations and learn how to identify which rules apply to your operations.

AIR 201 – Fundamentals of the Clean Air Act
Explore air quality regulations, permitting basics, and compliance responsibilities under the Clean Air Act.

WTR 301 – Introduction to Water and Wastewater Regulations
Learn the regulatory framework governing water quality, wastewater systems, and discharge requirements.

WST 401 – Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
Understand hazardous waste management, classification, and compliance under RCRA.

Beyond serving as a standalone credential, the SER certification is also a strategic stepping stone. Once completed, participants are just:

Four additional courses away from earning the Environmental Regulatory Professional (ERP) or Environmental Science Professional (ESP) designation, and

Five additional courses away from the Environmental Management Professional (EMP) designation.

Whether you are new to the environmental field or looking to strengthen your regulatory expertise, the SER certification provides a clear pathway for professional growth, career advancement, and long-term impact.
