Our Listening & Speaking classes regularly invite guest speakers so students can experience different voices, accents, and communication styles. But recently, students got to meet someone very special to the ELI community!

Dr. Cynthia Kilpatrick, the ELI’s long-time former director, returned to visit our students and share some of her best advice for becoming successful English learners. As someone who helped shape the ELI for many years, it was a meaningful full-circle moment to have her back in the classroom connecting with the next generation of students.

Thank you, Dr. K, for continuing to be part of the ELI story! 🧡💙

Not every day you get cookies AND a conversation with a university president! 🍪

Our ELI students joined the campus community at "Cookies with Cowley", where they had the chance to meet Dr. Cowley in person as she engaged in a Q&A with UTA students.

At the ELI, we believe learning happens both inside and outside the classroom, and we make it a priority to help our students feel like true Mavericks. 🧡💙

Spring has officially arrived at the ELI! 🌸🐣

Last week, our students put their egg-hunting skills to the test, searching high and low for hidden Easter eggs. After the hunt, everyone enjoyed picking out some well-earned sweet treats from the Easter basket.

Lots of smiles, lots of candy, and lots of fun!

Happy Lunar New Year! 🧧✨

At the ELI, we believe intercultural learning goes both ways. It’s not just about helping students understand life in the U.S. We also learn from our students and celebrate the rich cultures they bring to our classrooms.

In our Listening & Speaking class, students gave presentations about their home cultures. Two of our Vietnamese students wore beautiful Ao Dai dresses and taught us how to make Bánh Tét, a traditional Lunar New Year dish that takes more than 12 hours to prepare!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn from our students every day. 🌏❤️
