Jamaar Gardner is joining us from Midlothian, Texas!

Jamaar is majoring in finance, and chose his major because "I’m interested in entrepreneurship, branding, and learning how businesses grow financially."

He chose UTA because of the opportunities it provides for networking, internships and career growth in DFW. "I also love that UTA has a diverse student community and a strong environment for students who want to be creative, entrepreneurial, and involved on campus!"

Jamaar is most looking forward to making new friends and hopes to create a new student organization. "I’m excited to meet people with similar interests, experience college life, and continue to grow both personally and professionally."

This summer, Jamaar is "preparing to adapt to adulthood. I’ve been practicing important life skills like budgeting and self-advocacy, while also focusing on giving back to the people in need throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area."

His question for current students? "I’d ask current students what the best ways are to get involved in campus and meet new people early on. I’d also want to know what’s good food spots new campus that have a wide variety of good eats, along with what classes or professors they would recommend for freshmen."

Welcome to UTA, Jamaar!

Karen is a transfer finance major who chose finance because "I've always been drawn to understanding how financial decisions can change someone's future. The idea of helping others understand how to elevate their finances and make confident choices to impact their lives."

She chose UTA because of its strong network in the DFW area, as well as its "diverse community and opportunities UTA offers."

Karen is looking forward to getting involved through student organizations, meeting new people and growing professionally. This summer, she plans to spend time with her family, take classes and participate in Fidelity's Boundless Program. "It’s a lot to juggle, but staying busy helps me build strong time‑management skills and prepares me for the upcoming semester."

Her question for current students is: "Which classes/professors had the biggest impact on your college experience? What student organizations do you recommend joining to make the most out of my time at UTA?"

Welcome to campus, Karen!

She chose the College of Business because it "is one of the only schools that has an entrepreneurship major, and I have never felt more seen. To have the opportunity for real-world entrepreneurship during college is so exciting."
