Hi, I am Sharlene Burgett. I teach 6th grade Social Studies in Garland ISD. I have been teaching at the same school for 20 years. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in 7th grade, but honestly I was a "C" student all my life.

When I had my first child I knew my own childhood was over as I now had someone depending on me. The only thing I wanted to do was teach.

By the time I graduated college, I had added twins to my family. And by the time I found a teaching position, I added another baby.

Becoming a single mom of 4 gives me a unique perspective from both sides of the classroom.

My first love was math, but my second year I was told I would be teaching my worst subject - Social Studies. But, because I was an army brat I knew I could bring more to my kids about the world than most so I dove in head first and I have been there ever since.

I have been blessed by my school, my district, and students. Being a teacher is the best thing I have ever done (well, besides my own children)

Hello! My name is Ashleigh and I'm from Dallas, Tx. I currently work as a TA for an Elementary school in Dallas and I've been at the same school for 7 years! I love what I do, my dream is to have my own classroom. I have a BS and MEd in Education and is just the test I'm lacking (any help/would be awesome).
Even though I'm a TA, I have been responsible for a 3rd Grade Reading class since January, due to the teacher retiring - even during this pandemic - I'm still responsible for these babies and their learning. It hasn't been easy, but it has been a learning experience that I will never forget!
