Marc Colombat (1797-1851) was a French doctor who helped to establish the field of speech pathology & audiophonology. His dissertation was on stuttering. His son Emile continued his work.

Guillaume Thomas François Raynal (12 April 1713 – 6 March 1796), also known as Abbé Raynal, was a French writer, former Catholic priest, and man of letters during the Age of Enlightenment. He wrote (not particularly well) about events of the time that seemed current but centuries later we recognize as timeless.
