Next week, February 9-13, is Virginia's annual KINDNESS WEEK! To celebrate and bring awareness to how we can be kind to each other, MPSA will be having a Kindness Challenge Spirit Week! Each of the days are very easy to participate in but, as always, participation is optional, not required.

The Arlington Montessori Action Committee - AMAC is the group that played a major role in the getting us our standalone school, the Montessori Public School of Arlington, and they are currently monitoring and actively advocating on the school's behalf for APS to stay the course and move us to the legacy Arlington Career Center as decided on in the last CIP. They do not have to fundraise as vigorously as PTAs as long as they can maintain a robust membership, because they can rely on 100% of their dues to fund their events and activities. ** The Arlington County Montessori PTA and AMAC are two different organizations - we do not share funds or memberships.

AMAC advocates for quality Montessori, in both the public and private sector, in Arlington County. We are made up of a group of unpaid volunteers who do this work because we value the Montessori pedagogy and want to see it applied appropriately for the benefit of the children who attend these programs. We partner with other Montessori programs to present parent education opportunities, and we host community events and activities (such as our popular annual camping trip) for Montessori families. Your membership dues will help to fund all these efforts and allow us to keep our programs at cost or free without having to do the extensive fundraising that most nonprofits have to do. Your membership also allows you the opportunity to vote in the elections for the 2026 Executive Committee.

The last couple weeks of school have shown that we are a resilient community who cares strongly for each other. We did consider canceling the Fall Festival in light of the loss we all suffered, but instead decided to host it after all in hopes that it will be a time where we can all gather together in fun and laughter and make great memories. It's for that reason the PTA has decided to lower the cost of wristbands back down to $15 (and refunded the difference to those who had paid the higher price). You can still buy your wristbands online by clicking on the link below, or at the door - just look for Kia at the will-call table out front. We hope to see all our Montessori Monarchs at the Fall Festival!
