Did you know that learning to write doesn't begin with holding a pencil? It begins by building those small finger muscles!

Our toddler 2 class did a fun sensory and fine motor activity using pom pom balls and foam balls! They put small pom pom balls into a lemon squeezer and used their muscles to squeeze out the water! For the ones who couldn't manipulate the lemon squeezer easily, they used their hands to squeeze water out of foam balls!

Both activities help build up their finger muscles to later help with handwriting skills when they get older!

Messy but fun!
Our bridge 2 class had a fun STEAM activity of creating their footprints along a pathway using flour!

This activity helps build their sensory input and build their scientific exploration skills by forming questions like:
* How does the flour feel under our feet?
* What will happen when I walk across the floor?

Math also plays a role in this activity by forming questions like:
* How big is our footprint?
* How many footprints can we make?

Our Wonder of Learning curriculum incorporates so many different areas of learning through play all while helping our children form questions as they learn!

The thing about a Goddard preschooler is they’re going to be curious. Keep the questions coming 👏

Personally, we’d hire them as videographers 📹

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
