Our community has never been more invested in the educational opportunities for our youth as they have this year. The nation-wide pandemic has brought new challenges to how our children can best thrive and learn, and as school board candidates, we are committed to deli
vering an educational experience with priorities that are in the best interests of our students, teachers, staff, and community as a whole. Through collaboration with all the School Board members, community, teachers union, and district leaders, we will continually evaluate and re-evaluate the policies that have been serving our students well and continue to build upon that excellence, to ensure all students are receiving a high-quality and balanced education. We will work together with the community, including students, families and educators to determine our educational vision and priorities in the best interests of our students. This means open communication and transparency with parents and teachers, board members and community members alike. It means building a collaborative environment with all school board members, community, teachers union, and district leaders. It means listening to one another, and finding opportunities for creative solutions to problems on which we have varying viewpoints. It means being held accountable by the voters whom we are elected to represent. Most importantly, it means giving a voice to those whom are most affected by our decisions - our children. Our students. We have a strong appreciation for research and analysis. Understanding and adapting to ever-changing data is pivotal to decision-making. But we also feel passionately that our students and teachers are not data points on a graph. To truly understand the "numbers" in education, we need to spend time in the schools, listening intensely, asking questions to better inform our decisions, and creating a dynamic means through which every person can share their concerns directly with us as board members. Only through building a full landscape can we make the best decisions for, and lead our district to fulfill its great potential.
