Meet CVC’s 5th–8th grade homeroom teacher, Mrs. Charla Renfro!

Mrs. Renfro retired from the Gurdon School District this past May with 25 years of service. During her career, she taught high school business, computer, and Spanish classes before serving as a Library Media Specialist at Gurdon Primary School and Cabe Elementary School. She also has experience working with small literacy groups, teaching literacy enrichment classes, and helping students with dyslexia.

She earned a B.A. in Business Education with a minor in Spanish from Henderson State University and a Master of Science in Library Media and Information Technologies from the University of Central Arkansas.

Meet CVC’s 5th–8th grade history and Bible teacher, Mrs. Shawna Oliver!

Mrs. Oliver brings more than 28 years of experience in private education, including teaching at Little Rock Christian and Conway Christian. She also spent three years at Ouachita High School and three years in adult education. Throughout her career, she has taught Bible and social studies from middle school through 12th grade.

Mrs. Oliver earned her B.A. in History and Speech Communications from Ouachita Baptist University and her M.S.E. in Social Studies Education from Arkansas State University. She holds a lifetime certification with the Association of Christian Schools International and served three years on the Arkansas Gifted and Talented Education Committee.

Meet CVC’s 4th–8th grade science teacher and K–8th grade music teacher, Mrs. Donna Smith!

Mrs. Smith brings more than 30 years of public school teaching experience, along with an extensive background in curriculum development, science, literacy, and music. She holds numerous degrees from Henderson State University, including a Bachelor of Music Education and multiple Master of Science in Education degrees.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Smith has served as a dyslexia coordinator, literacy specialist, reading coach, and teacher in a variety of subjects, including biology, physics, physical science, and music. She developed and taught online courses for Henderson State University, Northwestern University, and Southern Arkansas University Tech. Mrs. Smith also served as the music director for Beech Street Baptist Church in Gurdon.

Meet CVC’s 4th–8th grade math teacher, Mr. Larry Boggs!

Mr. Boggs graduated with a B.A. in secondary education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree in religious education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as a youth pastor for 30 years and as a missionary in the Ivory Coast, West Africa, and Australia. He also brings teaching experience for 3rd–6th grades.

Meet CVC’s 2nd–4th grade teacher, Mrs. Pam Smith!

Mrs. Smith brings more than 30 years of experience in education to Caddo Valley Christian. She earned her B.S.E. in Elementary Education from Henderson State University and M.S.E. in Theory and Practice from Arkansas State University.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Smith spent 31 years as a public school educator, teaching 1st–3rd grades, and four years as a Christian school educator, teaching kindergarten–2nd grade.
