I spoke with Aaron and Jason from Pragmatic Paramedics about the role of education in the professionalization of EMS. This comes on the heels of the proposal of the addition of a clinical master's degree for paramedic practitioners to the current levels of EMS providers.

The key points I wanted to communicate are:
- College isn't a requirement to be good at what you do.
- Some kind of formal education is required to access some of the structural benefits of the healthcare system, including reimbursement for care and access to opportunities.
- College provides an economy of scale when it comes to formal education.
- The availability of a structured pathway for providers will not diminish the capabilities of current providers, but will provide more legitimacy to the profession.

SFC Celiz saved the life of a wounded soldier from a partner force, and later used his body as a shield to cover the DUSTOFF aircraft that arrived to retrieve the wounded. SFC Celiz was mortally wounded during the engagement.
