National Fentanyl Prevention & Awareness Day

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost to fentanyl and the families and communities forever changed by those losses.

This day is especially meaningful to the Tall Cop Says Stop™ team because it represents exactly why we do what we do. Our mission is simple:

TO SAVE LIVES FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MISUSE THROUGH EDUCATION.

We are proud to partner with Forever 15 Project , a Tall Cop Speakers Network expert that has chosen to share their story and their loss in the hope that others can be spared the same heartbreak. Their courage to speak openly about what happened is helping educate families, communities, and professionals, and ultimately, save lives.

Today, take a moment. Hug your kids a little tighter. Start a conversation. Ask questions. Learn more about prevention. Share what you learn.

If your community needs more education, we have experts that can speak to your organization. Sometimes one conversation, one piece of information, or one moment of awareness can make a difference.

Remember the lives lost. Support the families left behind. Educate for the lives we can still save.

🚨 EXIT FOR W**D? This is what I saw this week while headed to a Tall Cop training! The first billboard as I crossed into a state in the Midwest.

WHAT MESSAGE ARE WE SENDING FROM THE HIGHWAY?

Imagine driving down the highway, crossing into another state, and one of the first messages you see is this!

This photo is a great example of how the changing landscape isn’t limited to what is happening inside stores. Drug-related messaging and marketing have become part of the everyday environment. Billboards, storefronts, flags, digital signs and advertisements can repeatedly expose adults and youth to terminology and imagery.
The concern isn’t simply that a billboard exists. The bigger question is: What happens when exposure becomes so common that we stop noticing it? And are these substances so important that this is our first hello to our out of staters?

WHY SHOULD WE BE PAYING ATTENTION?

NORMALIZATION — Repeated exposure can make use, terminology and retail availability feel increasingly routine and socially accepted.

YOUTH EXPOSURE — A highway billboard doesn’t have an age range. Kids and teenagers riding in vehicles see the same advertising adults see.

DIRECT PROMOTION — “EXIT FOR W**D” isn’t subtle. It provides an immediate call to action to motorists passing through the area.

PERCEPTION OF RISK — When drug-related messages become part of the everyday landscape, communities should consider how that visibility may influence perceptions and risks.

IMPAIRED DRIVING CONVERSATIONS — Cannabis advertising positioned along highways creates an important opportunity to educate about cannabis impairment and driving.

PARENTS HAVE AN OPENING-VERY IMPORTANT— Don’t just drive past it. A sign like this can become a conversation starter with kids: “What do you think that sign is advertising? Why do you think it’s located here?”

🛑Synthetic Substances
We have an expert for that!

The news out of Penn State is shocking in so many ways - Here is what it comes down to: What if the apps your teen uses every day are also becoming part of the drug conversation?

Cash App. Snapchat. Venmo. Social media. Digital payments. These platforms are part of everyday teen life but, recent reporting highlights how popular apps can also be used in connection with illegal drug transactions.

So how do parents, schools, and communities keep up? Education is the first step.

The Tall Cop Speakers Network connects organizations with professionals who understand today’s youth culture, digital safety, mental health, and the rapidly changing synthetic drug market. Our speakers bring real-world knowledge and practical strategies to help parents and professionals recognize the risks, start the conversations, and get ahead of the trends.

You can’t protect what you don’t understand.

Bring a Tall Cop Speakers Network expert to your organization and give your team the information they need to help keep these dangers out of the homes and communities they serve.

Former acting DEA administrator Derek Maltz joins 'Fox & Friends' to discuss a major drug bust at Penn State University where suspects allegedly used Cash App and Snapchat to coordinate co***ne sales.

THE NASAL INHALER MOST DON’T PAY ATTENTION TO.

WHAT IS BENZEDREX?

Benzedrex is an over the counter product sold at stores like Walmart, Walgreens and CVS. This product contains propylhexedrine, a stimulant decongestant. Misuse can produce amphetamine-like stimulant effects and serious cardiovascular/psychiatric effects.

During my scans I sometimes find this product sold out (picture from this week) or under lock and key. That is very unusual for a nasal product. Everyone who will read this post has walked past this product and been within an arms reach of it.

Furthermore, our young people have easy and open accessibility to this (and many others) so education is key.

Attendees in Tall Cop classes who use this as medicine do speak highly of its effects.

WARNING SIGNS:

1) When the product is taking out of its standard applicator. Meaning the contents on the inside of the plastic is opened and intentionally removed.

2) When someone is using high doses or large amounts

3) When someone is consuming this in non-traditional or non-recommended ways.

PRODUCT PIC IN THE COMMENTS.
