Meet Mr. RJ, one of our fantastic instructors at Note Culture Music School! 🎵
RJ Lux teaches cello, guitar, and piano at Note Culture. A classical and freeform cellist, he is in his third year of performance cello at UNT and has been playing for 10 years. Outside the studio, he plays around the Dallas gig scene and loves improvisation, jazz, and collaborating with other artists. He believes music is something you keep exploring, and he brings that curiosity into every lesson.
What’s your favorite thing about teaching?
“I love getting to share how much there is to explore in music. I’m always learning myself, so it’s fun when a lesson turns into figuring something out together. Seeing a student get a piece or an idea to finally click is the best part.”
What advice do you have for students and young musicians?
“Stay curious and keep exploring. Learn the fundamentals well, but also try new things like improvising, playing with other people, or making your own music. You never finish learning, and that’s what keeps it fun.”
What’s a fun fact about you that we should know?
“I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and ended up a cellist in Texas. I’m also an avid rock climber.”
