Good Shepherd Catholic School teachers support their students inside and outside the classroom. As an example, Mrs. Melissa Gregory recently went to cheer on some of her current and former students who are playing JV volleyball (grades 5-6) this Fall for Queen of Peace Catholic Church CYO.

Pope Leo XIV proclaimed a Franciscan Jubilee Year from January 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027, commemorating the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The jubilee culminates in the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis’ Transitus (October 3, 1226) and his feast day (October 4).

Looking good for his age, Saint Francis (or a look-alike) visited Good Shepherd Catholic School on Tuesday morning to share a little bit about his life with GSC's youngest students (preschool through grade 3) and to bless them and their stuffed animals.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!

Today we celebrate the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, also known historically as the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. The celebration traces its roots to the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 and honors the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the power of the Rosary.

May this memorial inspire us to turn to Mary in prayer and draw ever closer to her Son, Jesus.

Following the school's first First Friday Liturgy of the new school year last week (October 2), Good Shepherd Catholic's newly-elected leaders recited the Student Council Pledge to begin their year of service to the school and community, and nine students (one each in kindergarten and grades 1-8) received the first monthly Kindness Awards earned and presented this school year.

Today, we celebrate the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels, giving thanks to God for the heavenly protectors who watch over and guide us throughout our lives. Scripture reminds us, “For he commands his angels with regard to you, to guard you wherever you go.” (Psalm 91:11)
May this feast remind us of God’s constant care and loving presence, and may we ask our Guardian Angels to guide us ever closer to Him.

Today we celebrate Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, the Archangels — God’s faithful messengers and servants. May St. Michael protect us, St. Gabriel guide us in hearing God’s call, and St. Raphael accompany us with God’s healing grace.

Priesthood Sunday, celebrated nationwide on the last Sunday of September each year, is a special day to honor the men who serve as priests. It is also a day to recognize all religious and to focus on the importance of vocations.

We pray:

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.

Amen.

With gratitude for the faithful and faith-filled service of Deacon Franz Fruehwald, Pastor Rev. Jim DeGrassa and Parochial Assistant Rev. Jacob Stellus at Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Good Shepherd Catholic School.
