Village Music, a private music school located in Incline Village, NV was founded by American Dramatic Tenor Brad Perry in 2016. Village music offers private instruction on all instruments as well as many dynamic group learning and summer music camp options. Village music is built around the philosophy that music is a language and must be taught as such. Meaning that in order to communicate fully t
hrough music as a musician we must be able to listen, speak (or play), read and write music just like any other language. There is no one size fits all approach and lessons must be tailored to the individual learner but high value is placed on our immersive language based approach. This way of learning music makes it accessible to all ages and backgrounds and although the classical method can and does work for some people, many are left behind. Learning to listen FIRST and then to just play while learning patterns and theory allows the student to “learn their alphabet” and begin to really communicate. While reading and writing is definitely important to be a complete musician it is actually not as important as listening and playing. Village music collaborates with many local organizations like the Tahoe symphony orchestra, Sierra Nevada University and university of Nevada Reno to provide a dynamic learning environment. Village music Founder Brad Perry also founded the North Tahoe Children’s choir and continues to look for ways to enrich the educational opportunities of Lake Tahoe
