All plant parents have had a dramatic plant or two!

Maranta’s dating profile:
Likes: themselves, humidity, being admired, filtered water (from a safe distance, don’t touch it)

Dislikes: direct sun, drafts, tap water, cold snaps, and whoever took this photo😂

She’ll forgive us. Eventually. Probably around her next new leaf💧

🌱 It’s time to give your amaryllis bulb a rest!

That amaryllis that bloomed so beautifully last holiday season needs a dormant period to store up energy for this year’s show. Here’s how to do it:

🌿 Stop watering
🌿 Let the leaves die back naturally, don’t cut the green
🌿 Remove wax coating if your bulb was waxed
🌿 Move it to a cool, dark spot for 10 weeks or so
🌿 No water needed while in dormancy
🌿 Bring it back to a sunny spot 6-8 weeks before you want it to bloom
🌿 Trim dried leaves to about an inch above the bulb
🌿 Repot in fresh soil with the top third of the bulb exposed
🌿 Water well and then don’t water again until you see green growing

Time it right and you could have blooms for the holidays! 🎄

Save this one for when your amaryllis is ready to take its nap 😴

“Torrential” downpours this weekend per the news, so we’re picking every tomato that has a chance 🍅⛈️

Ripe ones are obvious, but don’t skip the ones just starting to blush or even full size green ones. They’ll all ripen up beautifully on your counter, and it beats losing them to splitting once the rain hits.

Pro tip: keep them at room temp, never in the fridge. You don’t need sun for them to ripen.

Get out there before the storm and save your harvest 🌧️
