Two more chances to see me be very sad in Cavalleria Rusticana! TOMORROW and SUNDAY at Venice Island Performing Arts Center!
Are you ready to discover your voice? A voice teacher can play a pivotal role in a singer’s life and career — as a mentor, a coach, and a guide. Get in touch!
I have been gifted with teachers who have guided me and taught me beautiful lessons, and I take my responsibility in this role seriously. My teaching style is supportive, breath based, and most of all focused on helping each singer find their own individual voice. I believe a solid, fundamental technique matched with a deep understanding of one’s own sensational map of sound-body connection will a

Wednesday musings:
I sometimes have people ask me "how do you pick a voice teacher?" and this is a SUPER complicated question, but I can give you three questions to ask yourself:
1. Does your teacher sing? I don't mean your teacher has to (or should be) a huge star, but it is valuable to have a teacher who sings, who knows what it is to work on the voice daily and to preserve the functioning of the voice as a working singer.
2. Do you understand the way your teacher explains things, and if you don't, can they adjust their explanations? The way my body feels things *will not be the same as the way any other body feels things.* If you and your teacher cannot communicate using the same language, it may not be a great fit. A voice teacher should be able to adjust their language to fit a student's learning style and approach without getting defensive about it.
3. How do you feel after a lesson? This is probably the most important point I am going to make here. My best voice lessons have geared me up to sing for hours. My worst ones have left me exhausted - mentally and vocally. This is not to say that every lesson is going to feel fantastic, but one shouldn't consistently be walking away from lessons feeling vocally spent. The goal of a voice lesson is to train the body and mind to sing *more*.

My dearest songbirds who may be far away, please know that I primarily teach online (and was doing so even before our friend Coronavirus changed the world). I know what to listen for over Zoom, and I love getting to meet people from all over the world this way! I have students in California, Arizona, the UK...so, don't let something like geography stop you!
Hi friends! I am super excited to be expanding the voice studio! If you have ever taken lessons from me, please leave a review! If you have ever wanted voice lessons, know that I do, in fact, offer those!
