Learning About North Carolina, One Region at a Time!

Our 4th graders learned about the three regions of North Carolina in Social Studies: the Mountains, Piedmont, and Coastal Plain.

To bring their learning to life, our wonderful STEM teacher, Mrs. Haynes, created a fun, hands-on project where students used salt and flour dough to build their own 3D maps of North Carolina!

Students had a great time getting creative while applying what they learned in Social Studies to represent the different landforms and regions of our state.

What a fun way to connect Social Studies and STEM! A big thank-you to Mrs. Haynes for making this learning experience possible!

📚✨ **Growing Together, Planning with Purpose!**

Our 2nd Grade team spent time together during our PLC working on our **Professional Development Plan (PDP)** and setting meaningful goals for the school year in **Literacy and Math**.

We believe that strong collaboration and intentional planning help us create meaningful learning experiences and support every student’s growth. 💙📖✏️

We’re excited about the goals we’re setting and the journey ahead for our second graders! 🌟

Through collaboration, sharing ideas, and helping one another, our little learners are building friendships, growing their confidence, and learning what it means to be part of a community. We are so proud to watch them learn, support one another, and grow together every day! 🏫✨

Our students were so excited to welcome the Ram Mascot for a fun and memorable visit! There were lots of smiles, excitement, and school spirit all around. 🎉📚

🎨✨ There’s lots of creativity happening in our NEW Art Room! ✨🎨

Our artists have had an amazing start to the school year, and we are loving our new art space! We began the year by choosing our art teams and remembering an important message: Together We Are One! 💙

To celebrate our school community, students in 1st–4th grade each created their own quilt square to become part of a collaborative quilt artwork. Each student brought their own ideas, creativity, and personality to the project, while learning that when we work together, all of our individual pieces become something even more special. 🧵🎨

Our Kindergarten artists celebrated Dot Day by creating their own special dots—reminding us that every artist has a unique mark to make! 🔴🟡🔵

And now our artists are diving into some wonderful projects:

🎨 Kindergarten is exploring color while creating bright and colorful self-portraits.

🌄 1st Grade is creating imaginative landscapes inspired by the colorful artwork of Ted Harrison.

🌻 2nd Grade is learning about Vincent van Gogh and creating their own beautiful sunflower paintings.

🌊 3rd Grade is exploring the colors, lines, and movement of the ocean as they create seascapes.

🖍️ 4th Grade is diving into the details with carefully observed and expressive self-portraits.

We are having SO much fun making art together! Our artists are learning new techniques, trying new things, making mistakes, and discovering that those mistakes can often lead to some of the best learning. Every mistake is a chance to grow! 🌟

❤️🌎 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Glen Arden! ❤️🌎
Our Dual Language classrooms are kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the beautiful cultures and traditions that make our Spanish-speaking communities so special! 🇨🇴🇬🇹🇸🇻🇭🇳🇳🇮🇨🇷

Our students celebrated Día del Amor y la Amistad, a special Colombian tradition that celebrates love, friendship, kindness, and the joy of sharing with others. We also learned about September 15th, a meaningful date that marks the independence of several Central American countries.

These celebrations give our Kindergarten students the opportunity to learn about different countries, traditions, and histories while building a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures represented in our school community. 🌎✨

And we’re just getting started! Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, our Kindergarten students will have many more opportunities to learn, celebrate, connect, and discover the richness of Hispanic cultures. We are so excited to celebrate together! 💛💙❤️
