The Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) is offering free ASL courses for families in Minnesota. MN families can participate even if your child does not attend MSAD. Please share out this opportunity!

Free Family ASL Classes — Registration is Open!

MSAD is excited to offer FREE Family ASL Classes for families with deaf children who reside in Minnesota!

Come learn and practice ASL together as a family! All skill levels are welcome, from families learning their first signs to those who already have ASL experience.

Classes begin October 13, 2026 and continue through May 2027. Families are welcome to register for more than one class!

We are saddened to share the passing of Barbara Miles.

Barbara was a true pioneer in the field of deafblindness and a cherished collaborator with the MN DeafBlind Project. She was one of the original presenters of the Minnesota Intervener Training, generously sharing her gifts, knowledge, and deep understanding of communicating through Touch.

Barbara taught us that connection is attainable at the most basic level—and that connection is something we all strive to achieve, and that connection is powerful.

She was generous with her time and talents, touching the lives of countless children, youth, families, and educators across Minnesota. Her wisdom, compassion, and generosity of spirit have left an enduring impact on our community.

We are forever grateful for all that Barbara shared with us and for the many lives she touched.

With gratitude and deep respect, we remember Barbara and celebrate her remarkable legacy.

The spent an incredible weekend at the USH2026 conference! We connected with our deafblind project colleagues, families, community members and learned so much valuable information!

The national Family-to-Family Communities registration is now open! These are created specifically for families of deafblind children to build community and connection with other families from across the U.S. More details found in the post below.

It's our lucky day. We have 3 more children to celebrate today! We are so thankful to all of the families for sharing their children with us and helping to spread a little more joy and love into the world each day!

Today is the last day of sharing and celebrating children here, but we know that families and their children are showing up each day with love and resilience! We'll continue to celebrate the wins and growth throughout the year.
