Belief Statement

We, the Arcanum-Butler Local School District, believe that in our educational program the student must come first and our program should be flexible and adaptable enough to meet the educational and cultural demands of all individuals, regardless of their abilities, past experiences, ethnic, social, and economic status. It is our intent to guide the student in precepts for living

harmoniously with others and becoming a credit to society through personal growth. Arcanum-Butler Middle School Philosophy

We, the teachers and administrators of the Arcanum-Butler Local School District, realizing that school is a group process yet acknowledging the individuality of each child, believe that our philosophy is to guide the student in precepts for living with others and becoming a credit to society through growing in their insight into spiritual and ethical principles. We endeavor to promote this philosophy by organizing our activities to further the development of the young people who are members of the student body by:

A. Helping the student develop skills, understandings and attitudes that will make him an intelligent participant in a democratic society;
B. Stimulating growth in critical thinking, expression of creative ability and curiosity;
C. Giving an opportunity to each student to develop their capacity to appreciate beauty in the humanities and the sciences;
D. Having an integrated guidance program which will help each student to recognize their abilities as well as their limitations;
E. Helping each individual develop interests and skills that will aid them in constructive use of leisure time. Encouraging respect for others and emphasizing the duties and privileges of a democratic society;
G. Providing a program of health, recreation, physical education and safety which meets the needs of all pupils and school personnel;

As you start checking items off those back-to-school lists, don’t forget that Ohio’s Sales Tax Holiday is August 7–9!

Families can save on qualifying back-to-school purchases, including:

👕 Clothing — $75 or less per item
✏️ School supplies — $20 or less per item
📚 School instructional materials — $20 or less per item

It’s a great opportunity to grab some of those school necessities and save a little money along the way!
