Dr. Spencer Durham is a HUGE supporter of our program! We are so thankful for him and we celebrate his recent promotion! Congrats Dr. Durham!!

Congratulations to Dr. Spencer Durham, who was recently promoted to Clinical Professor beginning with the 2026-27 academic year!

One week ago, we returned home from an unforgettable week at HOSA’s 50th Anniversary International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis. As life has settled back into its normal routine, we have spent the past week reflecting on what an incredible opportunity this was for our students.

Today, we simply want to say thank you.

To every business, organization, and individual who chose to invest in our students, thank you for believing in them. Your generosity made it possible for our 10 students to experience a conference that will impact them for years to come. Because of your kindness and support, our students’ out-of-pocket expenses were kept to a minimum, allowing them to focus on learning, competing, networking, and representing Arab High School and Alabama HOSA on the international stage.

Your support was so much more than a financial contribution. It was an investment in the future healthcare professionals, leaders, and servants of tomorrow. We hope you know that your generosity created opportunities, memories, and experiences that our students will carry with them for a lifetime.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making this journey possible. We are incredibly grateful for a community that continually supports our students and believes in the mission of HOSA.

They are Natalie Gibbs (FCCLA First Vice President), Mason Smith (FFA Vice President) and Abigail Tipton (HOSA Vice President of Leadership Development). And that’s a wrap! HOSA’s 50th Anniversary International Leadership Conference is officially in the books, and it’s one we will remember forever. It absolutely lived up to the hype and was the best ILC yet!

These incredible young ladies represented Arab High School HOSA, Arab City Schools, our community, and Alabama HOSA # with professionalism, leadership, and class every step of the way.

⭐ Congratulations to Gracie Ballew for placing in the Top 10 internationally in the Speaking Skills event! What an amazing accomplishment making it on the big stage!!

Over the past week, we made memories that will last a lifetime, strengthened friendships, and built relationships that will continue long after this conference ends. We are excited to bring home new ideas, fresh inspiration, and valuable knowledge as we continue growing our local chapter.

Thank you to everyone who supported our journey and made this experience possible. Please keep us in your prayers as we travel home to Sweet Home Alabama on Sunday. 💙

We’ve been having a blast in Indianapolis and have fallen behind on our posting!

We are proud to share that our local chapter received Silver Recognition in the America’s Blood Centers Awards Program.

Congratulations to Catarina Nguyen for earning Gold Recognition in the Barbara James Service Award Program for completing more than 250 service hours this year. Catarina served as a Junior Volunteer at Marshall Medical Centers and volunteered at Diversicare of Arab. She also attended a HOSA History Workshop, where she had the unique opportunity to meet the founder of HOSA and the organization’s first National President.

Our students have been busy competing and representing Arab High School HOSA on the international stage:

• Ava Stanford, Olivia Saylor, Lynlee Hallman, and Rachelle Davis competed in HOSA Bowl
• Gracie Ballew competed in Speaking Skills
• Krimson Hill competed in Family Medicine Physician
• Allie Lusk competed in Health Career Photography
• Maci Mier tested in the HOSA History recognition event
•Abigail Tipton and Maci Mier served as voting delegates for Alabama HOSA

In addition, Mrs. Pettit served as the Event Manager for the Clinical Nursing competition at Butler University.

On the journey to Indianapolis, Mrs. Pettit and five competitors made a fun overnight stop in Louisville, Kentucky to explore the city. On Tuesday, we arrived in Indianapolis, enjoyed dinner together, and topped off the day by cheering on the Indiana Fever! 🏀

Our adventures are always fun!

The 50th HOSA International Leadership Conference is officially underway! The first National Leadership Conference was held in 1978 with just 386 attendees. Today, more than 15,000 HOSA members, advisors, and guests have gathered from across the world, and we are grateful to be part of it.

It has already been an eventful day! We started by trading pins and exploring the HOSA Expo before heading to Opening Session at Lucas Oil Stadium. We were inspired by keynote speaker Chris Norton, featured in 7 Yards on Netflix, and enjoyed an incredible fireworks and fire display to close the evening.

The night ended with a tornado warning and an unexpected trip through the underground tunnels to safely return to our hotel. As always, there’s never a dull moment with Arab High School HOSA: making memories, embracing adventures, and representing our school with pride!
