Fall is a great time to get your soil tested! 📣 Submitting a sample now means a shorter wait time for your results and you have time to apply lime, which takes months to effectively adjust your soil pH. If you've submitted a sample before, note that there have been recent changes to the submission process. We now have an online portal where you will submit forms and get your results!

🍀Come on out to the AppBell Teen Club Kickoff!🍀

This meeting is open to teens ages 13-18 who are from Campbell, Appomattox, or Lynchburg! We would like to invite your teen to join the AppBell 4-H Teen Leadership Club for our first club meeting of the year on October 19th from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Campbell County VCE Office (163 Kabler Lane, Rustburg)! We will be discussing ideas for the upcoming year, service projects members are excited to pursue, and goals for personal growth. We will wrap up with games and pizza as we welcome new members- you don't wanna miss this!🍀🥳

Our AppBell (Appomattox/Campbell) Teen Leadership Club is designed to help teens cultivate skills in leadership, communication, responsibility, and strengthen connections with like-minded peers. This is the club we select our Summer Camp Counselors from; however, the club does not revolve solely around summer camp. Summer Camp is just one of the many service projects our club takes on; others include various day camps and community service events.

*Plunk!* Did you hear that? 🌰👂 Acorns, walnuts and chestnuts are now falling, and we need your help collecting them so we can plant more trees. 🌳 ⚠️ Please note: We have adjusted the drop-off sites this year, removing some DOF offices and adding some partner locations. See the drop-off site list and map using the link in the comments.

Participating is fun and easy:
🛍️ Collect in a paper (not plastic) bag or cardboard box, separating by species.
✍️ Label with the date, species and location. Unsure of the species? Add a few leaves from the parent tree.
📍Drop off at a listed location (find one near you using the link in the comments) by Oct. 11, and we'll get them to our nursery to plant.

🐔 Interested in learning how to process your own poultry? Join Amelia Cooperative Extension for a Hands-on Poultry Processing Class in Burkeville, VA!

This workshop is designed to give participants practical, hands-on experience with poultry processing from start to finish. You'll also learn essential food safety and handling practices to help ensure a safe, high-quality product. This program will be held at a private farm, participants should plan to bring their own lunch as needed. Water and light refreshments will be provided.
