Join Kathy Meetz on a Study Abroad trip to Morrocco - May 2027!
This is an exciting opportunity to travel, learn, and experience something completely new.
A 9-day study abroad program in Morocco is available for May 2027, focused on children’s literature and early childhood education. The program is led by Kathy Meetz, Early Childhood Education Instructor, and Jenny Heinritz, Communication Skills Instructor.
During this experience, you will travel to Casablanca, Rabat, and Tangier. You will explore vibrant cities, historic medinas, and beautiful coastal areas while learning in real-world settings.
Along the way, you will:
Travel with other FVTC students and build new friendships
Step outside your comfort zone in a supportive, guided environment
Practice communication skills in real-world situations
Visit schools, early childhood programs, and community organizations to learn how education works in Morocco
Explore markets, cultural landmarks, and everyday life
Experience local food, traditions, and culture
Add an international experience to your resume or transfer applications
You will also spend time along the coast in Casablanca and Tangier, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Built-in free time, including free afternoons and evenings, gives you the chance to explore, shop, try new foods, and enjoy city, beach, and waterfront areas.
This program is open to anyone; you do not need to be a current FVTC student! It is especially valuable if you work in or plan to work with children in fields such as education, social work, counseling, or therapy.
Studying abroad helps you:
Build confidence and independence
Experience new perspectives and cultures
Strengthen communication and problem-solving skills
Stand out in future careers
Financial aid, scholarships, and fundraising opportunities are available to help make this experience possible.
You will earn 3 elective credits while exploring life outside of the United States. The program takes place right after the Spring 2027 term and before the Summer 2027 term begins, so it fits between semesters without interfering with your classes.
This is your chance to learn in a new way, see the world from a different perspective, and create experiences that will stay with you long after the trip ends.
To learn more, please reach out to Samantha Rosario in the Study Abroad Office at [email protected].
