February was a busy and exciting month at The Children’s School! ❤️🦷🌎
We explored a variety of topics including teeth, planets, and heart health. The children especially loved our hands-on experiments that helped them understand the importance of brushing their teeth!
Social-emotional learning continues to be a big focus in our classroom. We’ve been practicing compliments, understanding consequences, and building cooperation skills through fun activities like parachute and hula hoop games. We also revisited self-regulation with the silent game and spent time learning about emotions.
In literacy, many friends are continuing to work hard on letter recognition and early reading skills. We’ve been building words with short “i,” practicing blending sounds, and focusing on heart words (high-frequency words). It’s been wonderful to see so many children beginning to write frame sentences using these skills!
We also enjoyed studying Gershwin 🎶 and continue to explore shapes—right now, the pentagon is definitely the class favorite! In math, we’ve been working on teen numbers (11, 12, 13) along with simple addition and subtraction.
One of the highlights of the month was our Family Fun Day outing where we went ice skating ⛸️❄️ It was such a special time to come together, build confidence, and make fun memories!
Most importantly, every child has had the opportunity to be a leader in the classroom, and they take so much pride in it. We are so proud of all their growth and enthusiasm for learning!💛

2026 started off with lots of learning and joy!
January was filled with exploring geometric solids, practiced teen numbers and counting all the way to 100, and worked with the gold bead tray. We explored the word “I,” learned the letters G and P, practiced rhyming, and built frame sentences like “I like…”. We also began learning how to gather information from nonfiction books.
Our Arctic study took us on a chilly adventure as we learned about Arctic animals — especially penguins!🐧
Students strengthened fine motor skills with funnel pouring and practiced the art of giving and receiving compliments — building kindness and confidence in our classroom community.
From pizza making and instrument exploration (including learning about Yo-Yo Ma 🎶) to our special visit to the PAC to see “The Billy Goats Gruff and Other Tales,” it has been a month full of meaningful moments.

What a joyful and busy month December was! Our students explored Christmas culture and geography from around the world, learning how different countries celebrate the season. 🌍
They also continued building important academic skills—learning about money, practicing counting, exploring shapes, and working on addition and subtraction. 📚
Music filled our classrooms as the children learned new songs and proudly shared their hard work in a lovely Christmas concert for their families. 🎶❤️ It was a special way to celebrate the season and showcase all they’ve learned.
We were also lucky to enjoy some afternoons playing in the snow, making memories and embracing the winter fun together! ❄️

Even though we’re a little late sharing, we’re excited to give families a peek at all the learning that filled our classroom in November!
Our students were busy building independence and fine motor skills through activities like banana cutting and practicing scissor and knife skills. We explored the world around us by studying leaves and vegetables, and we began learning about Wisconsin and the continents as we prepared for our upcoming Christmas Around the World studies 🌍
In math, students worked hard on bead work, patterning, and beginning addition, while literacy time focused on phonics and labeling their own drawings to connect sounds, letters, and meaning.✏️
We also loved seeing our students shine during STEM Day, where they led their classmates in hands-on activities 🎨
November was also a time to focus on gratitude. Students helped make soup to share with their families for Soupsgiving, learning about teamwork, kindness, and giving thanks.
A special highlight was our visit to the local post office, where students learned how letters are mailed and how our community helps messages travel near and far ✉️

October was full of hands-on learning and seasonal fun! ✨
Students explored pumpkins, spiders, bubbles, early writing, the movable alphabet, and growing math skills through number work, addition, and bead activities. We also added the rectangle to our metal insets and continued building literacy with Daily News.
🌿 Nature Discovery:
Our Nature Table overflowed with leaves, pinecones, rocks, and other treasures students brought in to observe and explore.
🐄 Field Trip:
A visit to Mulberry Lane Farms let students meet animals, milk a cow, and enjoy a hayride—a memorable highlight of the month.
🎃 Halloween Fun:
We celebrated with a Halloween party full of creative costumes and a joyful trunk-or-treating event!
💛 Building Emotional Strength:
Students practiced naming feelings and peaceful problem-solving in our Peace Cabinet.

One month in, and these little learners have been busy! They have been mastering everyday skills like greeting one another, using eye contact, saying “please” and “thank you,” pushing in chairs, and cleaning up messes.
They’ve been learning what it means to be a peacemaker, exploring numbers with unifix cubes, painting their own bright and beautiful Van Gogh sunflowers, and diving into reading and writing their names!
And let’s not forget our apple unit— counting and adding apples, crafting apple suncatchers, picking apples at a local orchard during Family Fun Day, and turning them into delicious homemade applesauce. What a sweet start to the school year!
