๐ฑ Exciting News at Badger Elementary! ๐ฑ
Yesterday, June 2, was an exciting day at Badger as we received an incredible donation of a hydroponic Flex Farm, made possible through the generosity of Leadership Fox Cities Chamber in partnership with Fork Farms!
Students and staff gathered in the gym for the unveiling and had the chance to learn from โFarmer Steveโ of Fork Farms about healthy fruits and vegetables and how hydroponic growing systems work.
We are incredibly grateful for our communityโs generosity, belief in our students, and commitment to providing innovative learning opportunities. This Flex Farm will give students hands-on experiences in science, nutrition, sustainability, and healthy living while also increasing access to fresh produce.
A special thank you also goes to our Badger families who contributed to the student coin drive. Your generosity helped raise funds to support and sustain the Flex Farm, ensuring students will benefit from this unique learning opportunity for years to come.
We are so grateful for the partnerships and community support that continue to create extraordinary opportunities for our students!

Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog! ๐พ๐
Last week, we had the joy of welcoming back some of our former Badger Elementary students as they walked the halls one more time before graduating from high school.
It was such a special moment to see our current students, staff, and families celebrate them and cheer them on. These graduates are a wonderful reminder of the journey our students take and the bright futures ahead of them.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We are so proud of you and canโt wait to see where life takes you next. You will always be part of the Badger family! โค๏ธ๐พ

Fourth-grade students had the opportunity to join Reading League this year. From November through May, they challenged the teachers to a friendly competition to see who could read the most books. Although the students came up just short of winning, they still had plenty to celebrate and enjoyed a walk to Carter Woods in recognition of all the books they read.
Shout-out to Mrs. Hovick for organizing this year's reading league AND to Mrs. Pokwinski for being the teachers' anchor by reading 106 books!
Keep reading this summer and continue exploring new adventures through books! ๐โ๏ธ

Meet Our Amazing Mrs. Hovick! ๐
We're so grateful to celebrate Mrs. Hovick, our wonderful fourth-grade ELA teacher! She embodies what makes Badger so specialโshe creates a warm, welcoming classroom where students feel like family. Her passion for building genuine relationships with her students and fostering a love of reading is truly inspiring. The Badger community is lucky to have her!
What does Mrs. Hovick love most about teaching at Badger? "Badger is a unique school in that it feels like you're working with family. Since we are such a close-knit community, students and their families become familiar faces long before they reach fourth grade. I love building relationships with my students, learning alongside them, and (trying to!) get them to love reading, ha! I feel fortunate to be part of a team that truly supports and shows up for one another and to work with such amazing kids and families every day."
Fun Fact: Mrs. Hovick is a plant enthusiast and has over 35 plants in her home! ๐ฑ That's dedication!
Thank you for all you do to nurture our students and our school community. Your warmth and dedication make all the difference!

๐ฑ WE DID IT! ๐ฑ
Our Badger Elementary Coin Drive Challenge was a HUGE success!
Thanks to the generosity of our amazing students, families, and community, we raised $701.39 for the Hydroponics for Learning Fund! ๐
A huge thank you to:
โ
Every student who brought in coins
โ
Every family who supported this initiative
โ
Our incredible teachers who engaged their classes
โ
Our community members who believed in this project
What this means:
This funding will help bring a hydroponic garden to Badger Elementaryโa space where our students will learn where food comes from, develop essential life skills, and discover how sustainable choices support health and our planet.
Together, we're making a real difference for our young neighbors and our community! ๐๐ฑ

A post from Counselor Kristi to conclude Mental Health Awareness Week๐ง ๐ :
Thank you to all our students and staff for being seen in green to honor this important week.
We also had our amazing students identify coping strategies they can use at school to regulate their big emotions. The ideas they came up with were incredibleโincluding:
๐ฐ Bunny breathing
๐ Thinking happy thoughts
๐ค Asking someone for a hug
๐ง Getting a drink of water
๐ Using the calming corner
๐ฅ Talking with a trusted friend or adult
โจ Using a fidget
๐ต Listening to music
โ 5-finger breathing
..and so much more!
Several students were selected to win a prize for their creative work, and I wanted to feature their hard work here! ๐
I'm so grateful to learn from our students about what we can do to emotionally regulate ourselves when needed. Keep shining, everyone!
