Lawrence's Diversity Center is a gathering place for students who wish to explore their cultural heritage and identity. The center features a lounge with meeting space for campus organizations dedicated to increasing awareness of diversity-related issues and a meditation/reflection room. In addition to facility resources, the Multicultural Affairs office supports programs and annual student-focused events that promote the understanding and celebration of diversity.

Last week, Stephenie Muscavitch Van Every and Sunny Webster prepared a porcupine quill beaded earring class with our students! We learned about Indigenous culture and how to use porcupine quills in a variety of applications. Thank you for sharing with us, Sunny and Stephenie!

Last week, the D&IC and LUNA (Lawrence University Native American Organization) featured professional artist, art educator, and storyteller, Weeya Calif, a member of the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama. She comes from a long line of oral storytellers where her stories have been passed down from many generations and teach important lessons through way of life and how things came to be. Thank you for sharing with us, Weeya!
