🎻 Congratulations to violinist Ben Frueh ’27, who received the prestigious Fritz Ge**er Award 2026. Presented as part of the Lucerne Festival Academy, the award was founded in 2015 to support and honor three young musicians each year in the field of contemporary classical music. Each winner receives a cash prize of CHF10,000, as well as funded participation in the 2026 Lucerne Festival Academy, valued at an additional CHF10,000.
Founded in 2004 by Pierre Boulez, the Lucerne Festival Academy, an elite “training orchestra” for aspiring professional musicians under the age of 28, is an offshoot of the internationally acclaimed Lucerne Festival.

What a treat to have Panadanza again on campus last weekend! The Milwaukee-based dance company gave a wonderfully colorful and energetic performance for a packed audience in Esch Hurvis. The performance was filled with singing and dance rooted in the traditions of the African Diaspora. During their visit they also led a workshop open to the community and worked with Lawrence dance students for a choreographed performance about the building of the Panama Canal, which concluded the show.
