Week 3 of Jazzy’s Classroom Adopt-a-Horse program! 💕🐴

Our classroom friends have been asking Jazzy some GREAT questions, and she’s been busy answering them! This week, she shared her Baby Album, wrote a two-page letter, and sent along a special learning activity.

We love watching this little horse make reading, writing, and learning more fun—one letter at a time. 💗📚

Community Yard Sale this Saturday! ❤️

We’re happy to welcome Reclaiming Peace’s Community Yard Sale to Unbridled Peace this Saturday after a last-minute location change.

All proceeds will benefit the Come Spring Food Pantry, and donations of needed pantry and household items will also be collected throughout the day.

📅 Saturday, September 19 | 10 AM–3 PM

Come browse the sale, bring a donation if you’re able, enjoy some baked goods and refreshments, or simply stop by and spend a little time in community.

Classroom Adopt-a-Horse is underway! 🐴📚

This week we launched our free, remote literacy program for Maine classrooms. Jazzy Sparkles is excited to share about all the lovely things happening this weekend.

For example, at the farm, one of our favorite learners and their parents read a 5-Minute Girl Power Story, to a very attentive Jazzy nearby. ❤️

We’re still accepting applications from classrooms across Maine to adopt one of our horses for the school year!

When the Barn Becomes the Classroom ❤️🐴📚

This is Horse Powered Reading®.

Instead of spending an entire session stationary at a desk or table, learners practice literacy skills through movement, hands-on activities, and interaction with horses.
For example, during this exercise we sorted words parts into whole words and then identified them in the barn . And yes, we did take a little detour to visit a barn kitten. 🐱

It’s reading practice designed to build skills and confidence, while giving learners a chance to experience that wonderful feeling of “I can do this.”

That smile and thumbs-up say the rest. ❤️

What does Horse Powered Reading® look like?🐴❤️

This weekend, one of our learners teamed up with Jazzy and Scott, one of our certified HPR® facilitators, for a literacy adventure around the farm.

There were words to discover, sounds to practice, a course to navigate, and plenty of Jazzy time along the way. Then it was back inside to draw, create, and keep the learning going.

Today’s UP4Reading session was FULL of learning, laughter, and animals. ❤️📚🐴

Our learner and Dad started with a letter search to find and spell their names, then headed to the pasture to greet Jazzy. 🐴❤️

Next came a JAZZY letter scavenger hunt around the farm. As each letter was found, we practiced its sound, placed them in order to create a special sign for Jazzy’s stall.

Later, we explored barn sounds like B and H with words we could see and touch: brush, bolt, hay, horse, and hitch.

And because learning at the farm goes beyond worksheets, we made sure there was kitten time, Lizzie (dog) snuggles, and plenty of brushing Jazzy. 🐱🐶🐴

A pretty wonderful way to practice literacy. ❤️
