This year has been a precious reminder of how sacrificing for our kids is so important.

We don’t get these years back.

And I’m so grateful for every moment of homeschooling this cool kid through kindergarten this year.

Congrats, my little one!

You can’t stay 5 forever…
but with each passing year,
I hope to walk with you down the right roads.

Happy grad season from the adults finally finishing that grueling degree…

If an AI tutor looks like the best option right about now, it’s because..
It’s cheap! And it’s correct! And nothing else has worked.

But… it doesn’t work
For the exact same reason I struggle to make real progress buying $27 marketing courses on Instagram.

The self paced modules and work sheets miss the same key ingredient to learning as AI does:
Human connection.

Our brains are wired to learn from other humans, not technology.

Which is why I can still see my favorite teacher’s smile after (way too many) years!

You do NOT have to spend the last 2 weeks of summer in panic mode.

AP classes start.
The essays are due.

Your guilt is a sign you care.

But it’s not your fault.

And I need more AP & Honors parents to hear that.

You pushed your teen toward advanced classes because they’re SMART.

They’ve always been smart.

They learned quickly,
Loved learning,
And brought home A after A after A.

Their spark shined early on…
…When they started reading books out loud to you as a kid…
…when teachers kept saying, “They’re so advanced.”

So, of course, you encouraged them.

But then AP writing hit.

And suddenly your bright kid started second-guessing every sentence.

Assignments took longer.
Feedback got harsher.

And the kid who used to raise their hand started saying things like:

“I don’t know what they want from me.”

That’s the part nobody warns parents about:
AP classes don’t just demand smarter thinking.
They demand a completely different level of writing.

And a lot of bright students were never actually taught how to do it.

Not because they’re incapable.
Because they’ve been skating by on intelligence and intuition, not structure, for years… until now.

AP & Honors parents are told writing will “click” later.
But this is what actually happens…

Your teen gets A’s in English…

It’s because A’s on middle school work don’t always reflect high school expectations.
A gap that shows up FAST in Honors and AP.

• learn how to revise and edit with purpose

Most kids don’t need more intelligence…
They need more reps.

Does that sound like a ‘sports thing’?

It is!

I can still remember spring track practices, my coach harping on this exact idea…

Every Wednesday was hill rep day.
2-mile warmup.
Sprint the hill.
Again.
Again.
Again.

It was brutal.

But that’s how we got stronger.
How we got faster.
How we became ready for race day.

Funny thing is… we understand this in sports.

No one expects a teen to become a great runner without practice.
No one expects confidence without repetition.
No one expects excellence without reps.

But in writing?

We often expect students to perform on command.

Write this essay.
Answer that prompt.
Pass the AP exam.
Handle the SAT.
Complete the Dual Enrollment paper.

With very little guided repetition beforehand.

The truth is this:
Strong writers are built through reps.

One more paragraph.
One more short response.
One more revision.
One more round of feedback.
