This page is a dedicated space to hear directly from Jodi Huisentruit’s family.

At its heart, it is a forum to share personal photos & stories about Jodi and to clarify erroneous information that has been presented regarding Jodi and/or the case.

The month of June is always a hard month for us having Jodi’s birthday at the start and the date of her going missing towards the end. This is a month where we especially take time to reflect and remember Jodi the person and how much love & joy she brought to our lives and to all of those closest to her.

With a case of this scope and magnitude, it is like an iceberg in that you only see a small part at the surface and not everything happening underneath. From where we sit, in the eye of the storm and a front row seat to everything, we can tell you this from our own experience: quiet does not necessarily mean dormancy and inaction just as being vocal and creating noise is not indicative of momentum and progress. With anything being presented, especially with a lot of hype and fanfare, one should take a step back and fully evaluate it before taking it as fact or jumping to conclusions. If it is a consistent pattern, including the timing of information presented, the messaging, and the delivery, it merits more research and asking deeper questions before elevating it or continuing to propagate it, especially when similar like claims have not garnered meaningful results. Not only can it be reckless, it is also damaging and hurtful.

At this time, we kindly ask for space in the time that remains this month as we edge closer to marking another year without answers. Our sincerest gratitude for your messages of kindness and love and your genuine concern and interest in Jodi and seeing her case resolved. Your support gives us strength and encouragement, especially on the more difficult days.

With love,

Jodi's family

Happy 58th Birthday, Jodi - we love you & miss you always ❤️

06/02/2026

We want to put the attention this week where it should be: Jodi, the person. The daughter, sister, niece, aunt, godmother, friend, colleague, and all of the other titles she held while we were blessed to have her here with us. She is SO much more than what happened to her and all of the stories and speculation that has come after, and she deserves to have her story and her memory be respected and highlighted, especially this month.

This Friday will mark Jodi’s 58th birthday. Jodi had a generosity of spirit and was never one to make the story about herself. To honor Jodi’s spirit between now and then, take time to make those around you feel seen, heard, and valued as she strived to do. 🩷

As we sadly approach another birthday for Jodi without her here and another year marker of Jodi being missing, I was reminded of something I wrote nearly four years ago on 6/27 to honestly just get my feelings out on that day. At that time, I had hoped it would be the last of its kind that I would have to write, but as we all know, it unfortunately was not. In reading it back now, it is raw and still very real today. It’s never easy to share these things, but my hope is that one day soon there will be someone who finally decides now is the time to do the right thing and comes forward with the answers we so desperately need.

“Today is a hard day. It always is and has been for the last 27 years. I've found a peaceful place this afternoon where I can just sit & be still while reflecting on how much my life and my family's life changed on June 27, 1995. I miss my aunt. I mourn for the life and experiences she didn't get to have. For someone who loved life as much as she did, it is a cruel twist of fate to have had hers cut so short at just 27 years old. I mourn for myself and the experiences that we missed out on sharing with each other. My hope is that I am someone she would be proud of. There are no words that fully encompass how it feels to still have her be missing and to not have any answers after 27 years. You do not move on, as this is always a part of you, but you move forward in your life the best way you can because you know she would want you to. It is unfathomable to me that the person or persons who committed this heinous crime are ok with allowing us, her family and close friends, to continue to suffer every day instead of taking accountability for their actions and giving us some bit of peace. I pray that someday your conscience finally convinces you to do the right thing. To the dear friends and family who have supported us on this journey with love, compassion, and understanding - I am so grateful for you. Your kindness and support help me more than you know. To my dear Aunt Jodi - I love you & miss you always.❤️”

💔

Almost another year has passed and Iowa news anchor Jodi Huisentruit is still missing.

June 27 will mark 31 years since the 27-year-old Long Prairie, Minnesota, native, with a promising future ahead of her, disappeared outside her apartment building on her way to anchor the morning news at KIMT-TV in Mason City.

More than three decades later, there has been no trace of Jodi, despite this being one of the highest-profile missing persons cases in Iowa history.

To help keep Jodi visible in the area where we believe someone has information about what happened to her, FindJodi has created a new flyer with a simple message: Still Missing.

Several billboards carrying that same message will also go up soon in Mason City.

If you live in the area, you may have already seen our flyer in a local coffee shop or store. FindJodi team member Brian Wise has been posting copies at several locations in recent weeks.

We'd love to have you join us in our journey to spread the word across northern Iowa, southern Minnesota, and beyond. Feel free to print a copy of our flyer and also share on social media with .

Someone knows something. Is it you? Do the right thing. Don't make Jodi's family wait another year for answers.

Echoes in the Night: The Search for Jacob Wetterling - MSP Film 04/16/2026

Patty & Jerry Wetterling and Joy Baker are inspirational in the work they have done, both in Jacob’s case and on behalf of other missing people and their families, and now there is a documentary being released about their journey to find answers and resolution for Jacob. On a personal note, they have all been a wonderful source of support & encouragement for us on our journey, especially on some of the more difficult days when the external noise gets too loud or when we just need to talk to someone who has been there and gets it. I look forward to watching this documentary and learning more about their experience.

Echoes in the Night: The Search for Jacob Wetterling - MSP Film Director Chris Newberry, and Special Guests including Patty & Jerry Wetterling, Joy Baker, and Jared Scheierl Attending In October of 1989, eleven-year-old Jacob Wetterling was abducted on a quiet road in St. Joseph, Minnesota. The crime sent shockwaves across the country and the story became more t...

Kudos to Iowa DCI for this unique and creative way of highlighting and bringing attention to a few of the many unsolved cases in Iowa. Some wonder why Jodi was not included as a part of this, and the answer is that Jodi's case receives lots of attention - more than most of the cases this story references. We know that many are not as fortunate as we are regarding the interest and attention their case receives, and we fully support this effort and hope it helps bring answers to these families about what happened to their loved ones. 💛

A special thanks to Chief McKelvey for taking a moment to acknowledge and remember Jodi as a part of his comments for this story.

Bringing justice to victims becomes a lot more difficult as time passes, but the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is hoping to get answers by putting cold cases back into the shuffle. ⬇️Click the link in the comments to read more
