IMPORTANT UPDATE: School and all afternoon activities have been canceled for Wednesday, August 30. This will affect Swimming vs. Edgewater, FR/JV Football hosting Ocoee, and Volleyball at Deltona. We will work on rescheduling events and announce those updates as we are able. Everyone please stay safe!

UPDATE: Classes and after-school activities will proceed as normal Tuesday, August 29, but all activities must conclude by 8 pm. A decision regarding Wednesday will be made following tomorrow morning's NHC advisory.

Mount Dora (3-1) takes a 3-0 victory over Wekiva Volleyball (0-2) with sets of 25-19, 25-2, 25-18. Sydney Guthrie led the Hurricanes with 13 kills and 2 aces; Briana Beaton added 3 kills for the Mustangs. Sentinel Varsity

At this time, all athletic events remain as originally scheduled, particularly Monday's home Wekiva Volleyball matches against Mount Dora. OCPS continues to monitor Idalia, and we will cascade any decisions as soon as we are made aware of them regarding Tuesday and Wednesday.

District leadership is continuing to monitor the developments of Tropical Storm Idalia. We will have school tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 28. The models are predicting possible impacts Tuesday afternoon or evening and Wednesday. We will provide communication when decisions are made for Tuesday and Wednesday.

UPDATE: Athletic Clearance issues have been resolved. If you were unable to upload forms when you first submitted your clearance, please log in again and upload them now using the same account. Information and signatures you already provided will still be there - you do not need to start from scratch. Simply click the "Files" button to go directly to that step.

As a reminder, the first few days of band camp involve indoor team-building activities and music rehearsals that do not require clearance. Please report to band camp whether your clearance has been approved or not. Our athletic training team will review and approve clearances as quickly as possible once you provide the necessary uploads so that we can begin outdoor drill practice.

We're aware of an issue that prevents upload of physicals, ECGs, etc. into the Athletic Clearance System for non-FHSAA activities such as Wekiva Band and Wekiva Color Guard. Please report to Band Camp even if your clearance is not complete or approved. The first few days of camp involve indoor teambuilders and music rehearsals that do not require clearance. We have a ticket open to correct the upload issue in Home Campus. Once it is corrected, you will be given instructions to add the missing documents so that you can be cleared for outdoor drill practice.

SATURDAY 7/22: Who We Play For and Be A Player are partnering to offer FREE sports physicals and ECG screenings at Jones High Athletics from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Remember that you NEED this before you can attend tryouts, conditioning, practices, or competitions. This is a great way to get it done if you haven't already made arrangements with your own healthcare provider. Register at beaplayer.org.

(26-4) combines free throws and great defense when it counts, and the Mustangs are going to Lakeland with a 67-64 victory over Lakeland (24-5) in the Florida High School Athletic Association 6A Region 2 Final! WHS will play in the state semifinal Thursday at 6:00 or 8:00 at the RP Funding Center.

UPDATE - CONFIRMED: Wekiva will be the #2 seed and will play #3 Ponte Vedra in the state semifinal Thursday at 8:00, with the winner facing #1 Dwyer or #4 Wharton in the championship Saturday at 5:30.

Congratulations to Brianna Hertelien on earning a silver medal at the FHSAA Regional finals and advancing to the State Championship tournament series in the 157 lb. class! The State Championship tournament will be at the Silver Spurs Arena March 2-4.

Congrats also to Ramiyah Steele on a hard fought battle in her weight class, capping off a high school career that included a state bronze medal in 2021, two metro conference medals, two medals in the Lady Panther tournament, two district bronze medals, and two trips to regionals.

Brackets are out! maintains the #1 seed and will host Heritage (Palm Bay) in the 6A Region 2 Quarterfinal on Thursday!

The First Academy softball team was inspired by us and our relentless support of mental health. They showed their support for P.S. I Love You Day and for us💜 This is super cool because this is not a team we have any personal connection with, aside from just being two high school softball teams in Central FL, and they follow us on IG. TS NICOLE UPDATE: Based on the storm's forecast and potential impacts on Orange County, Wednesday, November 9, will be a regular early dismissal day. All schools will be closed on Thursday, November 10, and Friday, November 11.

All after-school extracurricular activities and extended day programs are canceled Wednesday through Friday. Information regarding the Florida High School Athletic Association football playoff games scheduled for Friday will be forthcoming.

We will continue to update you throughout the storm. The district will send messages by phone, email and text. Updates will also be posted on ocps.net and our district Facebook and Twitter pages regarding school operations.
