Every so often, this video comes up, and we make it a point to share. Karate has become know as a "soft", kid oriented martial art. That Kata is just a choreographed dance, with zero combative application

There is validation for Kata in combat - however most Karate school's don't, won't, or even more distrubingly, can't teach the application, because they themselves were never taught it.

Our young students first time sparring, can be both exciting, and terrifying at the same time! Knowing technique, how to punch, how to kick, and how to block are basics for any beginner!

However, learning how to use them in real time, range, distance, and, just as important, conditioning are skills that you can only develop properly through smart, through contact.

There is something special about watching a student get through their first round, finally realizing that they aren't as helpless as they think they are!
