Sensory Play IS Learning 🖐️

It might look like a bin filled with colorful materials…

But to a preschool teacher, we see learning everywhere! 👀

Sensory experiences encourage children to scoop, search, sort, identify, count, compare, and manipulate small objects while strengthening the little muscles they’ll eventually use for writing.

We can even incorporate letters and numbers into sensory play, turning one engaging activity into opportunities for early literacy, numeracy, fine-motor development, language, and problem-solving.

Preschool math doesn’t need to look like elementary school math.

For our youngest learners, numeracy begins with experiences like:
