Our campus looks beautiful, but the most beautiful part was seeing so many families come together to make it happen! As we spread pine straw and mulch, we strengthened our community, met new friends, and showed what is possible when we work side by side.

A special thank-you to Perry Corporation Landscaping for generously donating all the supplies and to everyone who gave their time and energy to make Apex Elementary even better. We truly are Better Together!

2026 Wake County School Bond

As the Apex Elementary School site celebrates 95 years of serving our community, our historic campus continues to have important facility needs.

The 2026 Wake County School Bond will appear on the November 3 ballot. If approved, the bond would help fund improvements across Wake County schools. Apex Elementary is among the schools identified to benefit, with proposed projects including elevator access, fire alarm upgrades, parking improvements, and enhanced safety and security measures.

This year, we are strengthening our use of learning targets to help students take greater ownership of their learning. Check out what this looked like in our first- and fourth-grade classrooms this week!

I love being part of a school where we are continuously learning, growing, and refining our instruction to better serve students.

Ms. Grainer hosted a PBIS assembly for our fourth- and fifth-grade students this week! Students reviewed the PAWS behaviors that will help them succeed in school and beyond. They are especially excited to earn PAWS and shop at our new monthly school store!

Our students are dreaming big—including plans to drive a Lamborghini! We are lucky to play a small part in helping them build the skills and confidence to pursue their dreams.

Ms. Whitehurst’s fourth graders were challenged to create the longest paper chain! Along the way, they practiced collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving while learning the routines that will help them succeed this year.

We love our community supporters! A big thank-you to Salem Baptist Church for delivering a wonderful assortment of snacks and drinks for our staff this week. The La Croix was a personal favorite!

We are thankful for the leaders who guided learning during our opening workdays! Staff engaged in professional development around school safety, standards-based learning targets, and enhancements to our PBIS system. We are excited to carry this learning into a wonderful year for our Cougars!
