Welcome back to CSC winter racing!
Today was a lovely day on Jordan Lake. High in the mid 60s, unfortunately the winds was only 2-3 knots but 9 boats were able to get in three light air races. John Doyle, outgoing commodore, with newcomer RK Sivaram, took line honors in the first two races but Alistair McGregor in his new to him Laser broke up the sweep by walking away in the final race taking the final gun. The score have been sent off to Ann Marie, CSC‘s official scorer, so we will just have to see how things shake out once the corrected scores are posted. Stay turned.
As always in the winter, the fleet enjoyed a fabulous chili social at the flagpole. Lots of recounts of last nights fantastic banquet and of course the days racing we told. There was a lot of questions asked on how fearless sailor capsized shortly after the start of the last race in a knot and a half today but that’s not my story to tell. I’d like to thank Alan Backus for bringing a pot of Texas red chili to accompany my black bean chili.
Final tally for the day was
4 Lasers
3 Thistles
1 Flying Scot
1 Isotope
Finally, I like to thank my Thistling RC companions; John Howell, Sara Paisner, Mark Thompson, and Eduardo Rocha signing up early setting a good example for the rest of the club.
I hope to see everyone out next Sunday in a rare back to back week of CSC winter racing. Please plan to sign up for race committee soon to fulfill your one RC day duty per winter commitment to the club. additionally, please volunteer to bring up pot of chili too at some point throughout the winter.
See you on the water if not before,
Howard Mendlovitz
