Islam itself has always given equal rights to women. However, the western world sees it differently because the Muslim woman is required to cover themselves. This covering of oneself or donning the 'hijab' is equates to non-equal rights and subordination of Muslim Women to Muslim Men or men in general. This is incorrect train of thought. s as a way of protecting oneself from becoming a lustful object. In the west, women feel that being lusted over is 'liberating' and 'I am in control of which I am and what I want in this life'. In reality, many non Muslim women feel the need to keep up their external physics to continue to be lusted after. Although many claim that this isn't their intention and they are simply doing what is best for them then it begs the argument that these women a feeling 'self sufficient' and up keeping their external physics is very important. However, unfortunately the western media is a strong contender in propagating the image of the Muslim woman by emphasizing that a woman wearing a hijab is oppressed and is backward in her thinking. And as any propaganda it is to influence both ends of the spectrum. As the Muslim woman doesn’t feel that they are portraying a subdued self it becomes just that because the Muslim woman isn’t ra-ra oo-laa-laa, she is conservative in her physical actions but her mind isn’t. And because she isn’t out there flaunting and partying or doing what the non-Muslim woman are doing the propagation holds true from this perspective. The goal of aMuslima is remind our fellow Muslim sisters that we can live a Muslimah / halal life wherever we are. It is here we remind each other of the special things that Allah has bestowed upon us and the ease of which Allah has made it for us to practice Islam in different situations. We hope that by sharing our stories and reminders Insha Allah we will feel less alone in this ra-ra oo-laa-laa world
As quoted from the Qur’an: Baqarah 2:286
“Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."
