Dear ABC School kindergarten Parents,
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! This is an exciting time for your child, although he/she may be a little apprehensive about going to "real" school. This is also a time of mixed emotions for parents---joy that your child is ready for school, but sadness because he/she is no longer a "baby"! The first day of school will mark one of the most importa
nt milestones in your child's life. Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child, but also a time filled with real learning. As long as we work together, you and I will be able to help your child blossom. The skills we practice daily in kindergarten and at home are the building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life! I grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. I finished High School and moved to The United States. I graduated in 2000 from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelors in Fine Arts. I moved to Atlanta, GA. where I worked for 2 years at Clifton Childcare Center. A wonderful school that implements the Reggio Emilia approach and caters to the employees of the CDC and Emory University. We moved to Apalachicola in 2002 and I became the president of the board for Bay Community School. I started substitute teaching at The ABC School in 2009 and in 2011 I finished the EPI program (Educators Preparation Institute) at Gulf Coast Community College. I was very fortunate to be hired by the ABC School family to work with Mrs. I have been the assistant teacher here since then and I know my heart belongs in kindergarten. This will be my first year teaching my own class and I am elated and super ready for your babies! I have been married for 10 years to my fun loving husband (who cooks amazing!) and I have two wonderful kids, Alex who will be in 5th grade this year. Maya who will be in 3rd grade this year. We own two excellent establishments in downtown Apalachicola and we stay very busy with the community. I absolutely love being a mother and I assure you that I will show your child a mother’s love as we grow together throughout this school year. Our school handbook, which will tell you everything you've always wanted to know (and more!) about our school and classroom policies and procedures. You may want to refer to this throughout the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, you may call me at school (850) 653-1222 or e-mail me at [email protected]
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marisa
