Northern California textile artist and instructor Kathy Barlow believes that everyone is creative, and she helps her students discover their own artistic spirit. She travels the world to explore traditional textile arts, then adds her own contemporary sensibility to create compelling designs and workshops. Kathy is known for her eye-catching collections of patterns, crafted in complementary textile art techniques. Her designs grow from her passion for architecture and nature. You'll often find her block printing, dyeing and embroidering fabrics, or hacking motifs on her vintage knitting machine. To further explore her cornerstone medium, Kathy recently completed a block printing tour of India. She offers a signature line of hand-carved wooden printing blocks, designed for you to mix, match and create lively, one-of-a-kind fabrics. With her supportive husband and two vibrant daughters, Kathy enjoys the energy of the San Francisco Bay Area and the serenity of Lake Tahoe. Kathy is an avid hiker and lap swimmer. While I love the layered and more complex designs created by Gelli printing the other day, sometimes a clean, repeating pattern fabric is just the ticket. I currently have ONE of the Bougainvillea Blossoms Repeating Pattern, 4" hand-carved wooden printing blocks in stock.
