AVID Car Wash Fundraiser - Back To School Night - Thursday, September 3rd

Hello DVHS, Please come out and support our AVID class CAR WASH before Back-to-School Night on Thursday 9/3 2:30-4:30pm in the front parking lot. Cost $10.Proceeds go to purchasing college prep testing materials for our AVID 9, 10, and 11th graders.

DVHS Back to School Night

DVHS will host our annual Back to School Night on Thursday, September 3rd from 5 - 7:37pm. The evening will begin with student performances in the amphitheater at 5pm, followed by a welcome from Principal Bowers at 5:30pm. You will be able to follow your student's schedule beginning at 5:45pm. School groups will have information tables throughout the campus. Please remember that Friday, September 4th is a minimum day for teachers and students. 6th period will end at 12:35pm and 7th period will end at 1:12pm. Please also remember that Monday, September 7th is a non-school day for the Labor Day Holiday.

Parents, the first grading period of the year is quickly approaching. The first quarter progress reporting period will close on Tuesday, September 8th and progress reports will be available early in the week of September 14th.

DVHS Safety Reminders - Closed Campus, Football Game Policy, Local Business Closures

Wolverine Families,

With safety being a major priority for both the Antioch Unified School District (AUSD) and the City of Antioch, I wanted to share a few important reminders regarding safety at Deer Valley High School.

• Closed Campus: Deer Valley is a closed campus. Students are not permitted to leave campus during lunch. When students leave campus, it becomes difficult for the school to ensure their safety. Students who are caught leaving campus may be subject to disciplinary consequences, including after-school detention and/or Saturday School.

• Football Games: Football games are a great opportunity for our school community to come together and support our Wolverines. Please remember that, in Antioch Unified School District, only students with a valid school ID may attend high school football games. Deer Valley students may attend home games or away games when Deer Valley is playing.
Please note: Deer Valley students will not be permitted to attend Antioch High School football games, other than the Antioch High School vs Deer Valley game, even if they have their school ID.

• Lone Tree Plaza Businesses: We have also been informed by local businesses in the Lone Tree Plaza; McDonald’s, Burger King, and Starbucks will be closing their doors to walk-in services between 2:30–3:30 p.m. If you pick up your child at one of these locations, please note the change to their policies.

DVHS Back to School Night & Cell Phone Policy Reminder

DVHS families -

Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 3rd from 5-7:30pm. Please look for more information about the schedule for the evening's events next week. Herff Jones will attend the event for those seniors looking for graduation products and who would like to order their cap and gown. Friday, September 4th will be minimum day for students and teachers.

Students have been doing a good job following new policy of no cell phones out in class or during passing period. Please remember to review the policy with your students to ensure that we continue to limit distractions during school time. Overdue Library Books Needed

Dear DV Parents and students,All overdue Library and Textbooks are needed for this upcoming school year!Please, remind your student to bring and return their overdue books to the library beginning on the first day of school as we need these books for our students to use this school year. Books may be dropped off before school starts at 8:00 am, at lunch and after school until 4:00pm.

DVHS Athletic Transfers Meeting

If you are a parent of a 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student that is a new transfer to Deer Valley High School and plans on participating in any athletic program, there will be a meeting on July 29th at 6:00pm in Deer Valley Theater to inform you about the CIF/NCS rules about transfers. This meeting will be the first step in helping your athlete become eligible to participate in sports on our campus. DVHS Online Registration, Walkthrough & Mobile Device Policy

Please see the attached flyer for information about online registration for your returning student. It is mandatory. Please try to complete before coming through Walkthrough. We will have a room available to assist you with completion but we will have a limited number of devices. Forms must be completed before you can complete walkthrough.

Walkthrough will be held as follows. You may bring all students in your family to one session. In order to try to spread the event out for our 1900 students, please try to come in your assigned time:
Freshmen - Thursday, July 30th from 9-11am
Sophomores - Thursday, July 30th from 2-4pm
Juniors - Friday, July 31st from 9-11am
Seniors - Friday, July 31st from 2-4pm

Please see attached flyer for pricing information. Please remember that a $5 surcharge will be added to all forms of electronic payments.

The district has been sending out numerous communications about the new state law regarding the use of mobile ​devices at school. Students must turn off and put away their mobile devices from the beginning of the school day until dismissal each afternoon. Phones are not ​to be used during passing periods or at lunches any longer. The attached flyer ​details the disciplinary consequences for each level of violation. Please review with your students. Please make sure to have Deer Valley High School's phone number of ​(925) 779-7570 stored in your phone to reach out to us with messages for your student ​during the school day.
