On Wednesdays in October, we wear orange to remind ourselves of the importance of inclusion, kindness, and belonging. Every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and accepted for who they are! 🧡

And this week, Miss Borghoff and Miss Catherine showed up as TWINS! 👯‍♀️ This mother-daughter duo doesn’t just look alike… they are both so kind too! 🧡

💙💛 Become a Runner Buddy!

Do you have one hour a week to make a difference in a child’s life?

Anthony Elementary is looking for Runner Buddy volunteers to spend a lunch break each week with a student. Sometimes, the most meaningful thing we can give a child is our time, a listening ear, and someone who looks forward to seeing them.

Runner Buddies help students build connections, confidence, and a sense of belonging while strengthening the bond between our school and community. A small commitment can make a BIG difference!

Support Our Runner Market!

At Anthony Elementary, our monthly Runner Market gives students the opportunity to shop for items using the earnings they’ve worked hard to earn through our schoolwide positive behavior incentive program.

Students earn rewards for demonstrating positive behaviors, making good choices, showing kindness, and being responsible. The Runner Market helps reinforce these habits while building motivation, ownership, and a positive school culture!

We would love donations to help keep our market stocked! Great items include small toys, fidgets, stickers, school supplies, fun accessories, games, books, and other kid-friendly treasures.

Every donation, big or small, helps us celebrate our Roadrunners and keep the positive momentum going! Thank you for supporting our students! 💙💛

💙💛 HOUSE DAY AT AES! 💙💛

A HUGE THANK YOU to SCTelcom for generously purchasing T-shirts for ALL of our Anthony Elementary students! We are so grateful for community partners who invest in our kids and help build a strong sense of belonging at AES. Your support means so much to our Roadrunner family! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our K–6 House System is about so much more than wearing a color. It’s about building relationships across grade levels, developing leadership skills, practicing kindness, showing courage, and growing together as one school family. By connecting our youngest Roadrunners with our oldest students, we create opportunities for mentorship, encouragement, teamwork, and a sense of belonging for EVERY student.

Wearing orange is more than just wearing a color. It’s a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, included, accepted, and like they belong.

At AES, we want every student to know that there is a place for them here. We celebrate our differences, look out for one another, and make sure no one feels like they have to stand alone.

Some wise words from our own Mrs. Katy Thomas…

Thank you to everyone who nominated me for October Teacher of the Month. I am truly honored! I wouldn’t be the teacher or person I am today without the relationships I’ve built along the way. My past and present students have each helped shape who I am, and I look forward to learning and growing with my future students, too. I am especially grateful to my colleagues past and present for their encouragement, friendship, and wisdom. You have helped me grow both personally and professionally, and I’m thankful to work alongside you.
My philosophy in my kindergarten classroom is that every child can learn and grow when they feel safe, valued, and supported. I strive to build strong relationships and provide engaging, hands-on learning experiences that meet each child’s needs. I believe in balancing academics with play, kindness, and social-emotional growth.
Sharing insights with my peers helps me reflect on my teaching and learn new strategies. Through collaboration, we support one another and strengthen our instruction to help all students.
