As we closed out another school year, we want to take a moment to recognize the principals and coordinators across the Center Joint Unified School District.
This week, our site leaders came together for our end-of-year leadership meeting, and what stood out was the trust and vulnerability they brought to the room. They showed up for each other, leaned into hard conversations, and kept one thing at the center of it all: our students.
That is the Center Commitment in action. Our leaders do not just talk about wanting students to thrive here. They do the work to make it possible, together.
Thank you to our leadership team. What you bring to this district matters more than you know. π

Summer break is here, and reading just got easier! All CJUSD students have FREE access to Sora, a reading app filled with ebooks and audiobooks available anytime, on any device. Whether your child loves curling up with a good story or prefers listening on the go, Sora makes it easy to find something great to read.
This summer, Sora is rolling out the Sweet Reads program (May 18 to August 24), offering a curated collection of grade-appropriate titles with no holds or wait times. Just pick a book and start reading!
A few things we love about Sora:
π Available 24/7 on any device
π§ Includes audiobooks and a read-along option
π Offers multilingual support and accessibility features, including dyslexic fonts
π Makes reading fun with avatars and achievements
Getting started is simple: Download the app or visit soraapp.com, search for Center USD (SAGE), and sign in using your student ID number. That's it!
Keep those brains active this summer, CJUSD. Happy reading!

Last night, McClellan High School celebrated the Class of 2026, and Principal J'Beily said it best: "Today is more than a ceremony. It is proof of everything you have overcome, accomplished, and earned to get to this moment."
These graduates have their own stories, their own challenges, and their own victories. And they kept going. That persistence is exactly what earned them their place on that stage last night.
To Principal J'Beily and the staff at McClellan High School: thank you for seeing every student and believing in every one of them. Your leadership and dedication made this night possible.
Congratulations, McClellan High School Class of 2026. Your story is still being written, and we cannot wait to see where it goes. π

We have a First Place winner in the house! Tilly, a student at Oak Hill Elementary, took top honors in the Sacramento Area Sewer District's 2026 Art Contest. Her artwork centered on agriculture, water, energy, and the environment, and SacSewer said it was truly impressed by her creativity and talent.
A big shoutout also goes to Mr. Muldoon for encouraging his class to participate and helping make this moment possible. This is what happens when great students and great teachers work together!
Congratulations, Tilly! We are so proud of you.

Last week was a tailβwagging kind of day for our North Country students! πΆ
As part of their annual Mental Health Awareness tradition, students relaxed, recharged, and enjoyed time with the amazing therapy dogs from Capital Therapy Dogs.
A few minutes of puppy love can go a long way, helping students thrive with calm, connection, and lots of smiles.

Check out the hands-on learning in action at Rex Fortune Elementary School!
Our second-grade students have been exploring the life cycle of chicks, from incubation to hatching, and their excitement is contagious! They've gotten to watch the eggs hatch right before their eyes, bringing science to life in a way that books simply canβt.
We love seeing our kids having fun while learning. It's moments like these that spark curiosity, build understanding, and create lasting memories for our young learners.
