Such a fun day planting at the community garden and our own Julia Day garden. We can’t wait for all the yummy veggies to grow.

Good Morning. We are working with the YMCA, Clinton A.M.E. Zion Church, and Massaro Farms to get the community garden on Central St. ready for planting next week. We are looking for some community support with weeding the beds to get them ready. Then once planted the garden is for the community so please feel free to stop by any time!

We have placed some contractor bags in the shed if anyone has some time to stop by and pull some weeds it would be greatly appreciated. You can leave the full bags right in the shed and we will take care of removing them.

You would be hard pressed to find a group of people more deserving of a sincere thank you than teachers. We want to thank all of the teachers out there but a special thank you to our amazing teachers! Without you Julia Day would not be the amazing program it is. Thank you for believing in every child in your class, providing love and guidance everyday, and for making a difference. You are appreciated 💕

Early Learning Family Fun Day - Formstack

Looking for a fun weekend activity? Julia Day is having a family fun day at the Rinks in Shelton on Saturday, May 13th from 10:00-12:00. For $25 you get unlimited mini golf, batting cages, golf range, bowling, and 20 arcade credits. Even better is 50% of the cost benefits the children at Julia Day. Thank you to the parents who helped spread the 1.5 pallets of mulch this week to get Julia Day spring ready! The children were so excited to put out the kindness rocks we made a few weeks ago💕.

It’s a beautiful day for a picnic lunch!!

We are so incredibly thankful for a beautiful day! We combined Artsy Thursday and Family Friday and had an awesome family walk then decorated kindness rocks.

Thanks to everyone who beeped and waved, was patient as we crossed the street, and especially those who were able to take time and join us on our walk through down town. Thank you to Mayor Cassetti for leading our walk again this year.

Watching all of the children laugh, run and play while their family members laughed, ran and played right along side them was truly the perfect way to kick off a long weekend 💕

We were so busy yesterday we forgot to post!

For Tasty Tuesday each class made a yummy fruit salad. Everyone brought in a different fruit to contribute.

Today for Work Together Wednesday we combined art from Artsy Thursday and children worked on painting and collage together. One class worked on making a volcano then everyones favorite part- making the volcano erupt.

Lastly, over the past 2 days we had an egg hunt which had 500 eggs including 20 special golden eggs. Those lucky children received an Easter basket so generously donated by former board member Marianne Smythe and her grandchildren. We are so thankful for community support and donations which help enrich our program and the lives of the families we serve.

We can not wait to end the week with a family activity tomorrow!

This week is the Week of The Young Child which celebrates early learning, young children, their teachers, their families and communities.

Today is Music Monday! Music allows children to develop their language and early literacy skills while being active. We were very excited to have Gretchen, a Viola player from the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, play for us today and teach everyone about the viola.

Diane is an active board member with Julia Day and a truly selfless woman who gives so much to so many. We echo the concern of the Valley Community Foundation and encourage you to share and keep Diane in your prayers.

It’s with concerned hearts we share the news that Diane Stroman, our dear friend and former board member, has been diagnosed with kidney failure. Diane has been a tireless advocate for the Valley Community Foundation and a pillar of our community for decades. She needs a kidney transplant as soon as possible.

A little afternoon ZUMBA dance party!

Thanks Miss Sarah for dancing with us and thank you to Ion Bank for making it possible.

We ended Dr. Seuss week and Read Across America with a special visit from Mayor Cassetti! The children could not stop talking about how much fun they had and how much he loved their silly socks. Thank you so much 💕

Thank you Ion Bank for giving our children the opportunity to work with The Giggling Pig Seymour today. The children voted on which painting they would create as a class and had the best time creating today 💕

Slime Time!! Thank you to Ion Bank for making it possible to have The Vault Virtual Reality Center slime lab spend the morning with us! The children explored different textures of slime, played in the kitchen, made slime bubbles, and made their own slime to take home!

Not only was the morning full of laughter and fun, slime helps with motor skill development and promotes mindfulness. Pro tip shared white vinegar gets slime out of clothes, hair, and furniture.

Today we delivered 135 Valentine’s Day Cards the children made for the residents of Shady Knoll to celebrate random Acts of Kindness Day which is coming up this week. We are also collecting items for the animal shelter to donate later this month.

Teaching children about kindness provides them a greater sense of belonging, improved self esteem, and allows them to form connections associated with increased happiness.

Thank you Miss Jolene for coordinating so many community projects and all of our wonderful teachers for incorporating these activities into your day and curriculum! 💕

Today we had JumpBunch Naugatuck Valley in for a visit. The children had a great time learning some yoga poses , using our bodies to make letters, and having some fun with the parachute while talking about keeping our hearts healthy 💕

We are so thrilled to have some guest readers in our Snapdragon classroom this week! The children loved the books and had so much fun making superhero capes after.

Thank you to all the staff and families who helped to fulfill the wish lists of 6 children through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.

What a fun night of making memories with so many families! Cocoa, crafts, stories, and some of the best decorated gingerbread houses I have ever seen. Thanks to all who attended and those who helped make the night such a success especially Holy Rosary for allowing us to use their hall.

The Valley Knights of Columbus have collected kids' coats for our community this year! Stop by Assumption Church this Saturday between 9am and noon with your child to receive a coat for this sure-to-be-cold winter!

Today we are feeling so grateful for Miss Maryanne. She worked so hard preparing a delicious Thanksgiving feast made with so much love for all the children and staff 💕

We can not wait until next week when the parents join us for pie and so fun Thanksgiving activities.

Thank you so much to the Ansonia Rotary Club for donating a hat and pair of gloves to every child at Julia Day!! Making sure every child has the winter gear they need ensures we get outside for active play even when it’s a bit chilly outside💕

Last night we held our first trick or treat event and these smiling faces say it all! Everyone had a great time decorating, playing, dancing, and collecting some treats. Thank you to all those who participated and made it such a success!! We can not wait to do it again next year 💕

Great visit with State Representative Kara Rochelle today. The children enjoyed hearing her read “Nigel and the Moon” but were most excited to share with her what they want to be when they grow up.
