D.A.R.E. Returns to Darke County
Partnering schools and law enforcement for a safer, stronger community

Darke County, OH – The Darke County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with local school districts, is announcing the return of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program to four schools across the county. This renewed initiative is part of a countywide effort to equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make safe and responsible choices.

Beginning this school year, the D.A.R.E. program will be taught by trained deputies at the following schools:

● Ansonia Local Schools – Deputy Alan Yount
● Franklin Monroe Local School District – Deputy Kelly Moody
● Mississinawa Valley Schools – Deputy Greg Fourman
● Tri-Village School District – Deputy Dan Stockslager

These deputies, who have already been serving their school as School Resource Officers, are specially trained in the D.A.R.E. curriculum, which focuses on drug prevention, decision-making, conflict resolution, and building positive relationships between students and law enforcement.

The D.A.R.E. program uses interactive classroom engagement to encourage open discussion, foster trust and strengthen community safety.

Darke County D.A.R.E. Deputies will be at the Great Darke County Fair this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4PM to 9PM located on the midway near the Darke County Sheriff’s building at the north end of the grandstand. D.A.R.E. Deputies will have program promotional items to share with students. D.A.R.E. Deputies will be at the Fair Touch a Truck event on Thursday afternoon located in the track and Grandstand area and will return to the midway on the last Friday of the Fair from 4PM to 9PM. This is a great opportunity for Darke County students to meet their SRO/ D.A.R.E. Deputies before school starts. Parents and community members are encouraged to stop and ask questions to learn more about the program.

Darke County Students K- 8th grade will be eligible to sign up for a chance to win a new bicycle.
