We have received several messages from people upset that we have taken a year off from holding the event.
We are sorry but the fact is, this event takes a tremendous amount of effort to get off the ground each year.
We simply did not have enough people willing to take on the number of tasks necessary to make this event happen in time for this year.
For the past few years, any tasks that we're not volunteered for had been taken on by one person.
We will be holding a meet and greet for anyone interested and being an ACTIVE member.
We totally understand that people have busy lives and cannot always commit to large tasks but if there are many people that can each take on a small task, our team will thrive!
For the meantime, the best form of ADVOCACY is to BE A RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNER.
Take the time to train your dog.
Nothing does more to negate stereotypes than a beautifully trained well-socialized pit bull type dog in the public eye.
Be KIND and have productive conversations with any individual that may not understand that your dog is just a dog.
DO NOT engage in arguments on social media!
Take classes, learn about positive reinforcement training, participate in workshops and mainstream Dog Sports.
Advocacy is not a one day of the year responsibility.
It is a responsibility that falls on all of us at all times.

We are taking a year hiatus to restructure and recruit more volunteers!

They truly set the gold standard of what a shelter should be.

We will have professionals from the veterinary industry, Animal Control, and the Rescue Community represented on the panel.
